We've been working very hard NATIONAL MINING HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM. We recently received a grant for an ADA site plan for our National Historic Site, the Matchless Mine, from History Colorado. The site plan is now complete and we were recently awarded a grant for construction documents to build accessibility and address components of our historic structures assessment. We also exceeded our endowment campaign goal of $6 million dollars! Thank you to our donors, volunteers, and board members for our recent successes! https://lnkd.in/gMeenV4q

Matchless Mine opens tomorrow at 9am and will have guided tours available at 10am and 12pm. We are still adding tours for the summer, so check the website for the most up to date information. The Matchless Mine received a History Colorado grant to complete an ADA site plan last summer. This summer Matchless was awarded a second grant to create construction documents and have an engineering study completed. Today, on Saint Patrick's Day, we celebrate the Irish miner who had a vast and lasting impression on American mining communities. Irish immigrants brought with them their culture, religion, celebrations, pastimes, and work-ethic which shaped the mining towns of the American West. Strikes organized by predominantly Irish labor unions saw through changes to our current societal norms regarding child labor, the work day, and fair pay laws.
