So many great insights shared during the roundtable on AI Revolution: Shaping Data Analytics in the Financial Sector at the Point Zero Forum in Zurich, with Elevandi & Bank for International Settlements – BIS. Much of the discussion revolved around transformation and driving change within legacy organizations in a highly regulated industry. That requires attention to ROLES and GOAL -- communicating how these change with adoption of new technologies and monitoring progress in the transformation journey. Thank you to the moderators Morten Bech and Rachel Arulraj-Cordonier as well as to my fellow panelists Claire Calmejane, Benedicte N. Nolens, Marc Beierschoder, Musa Parmaksiz, Dan Wunderli, Matthias Gubler, and Gernot Klein, PhD for the engaging exchange. I was happy to represent Snowflake at #PZF2024.

Excited to share some stats today at the Point Zero Forum. Earlier this year Snowflake published Data Trends 2024 in which we reported how our customers were using Snowflake capabilities. Turns out, the financial services world has availed themselves more than others. => Unlocking unstructured data: The processing of unstructured data has increased by 123% across all Snowflake customer BUT in FS the increase was 244%. => Securing yet unlocking privacy-protected data: The application of governance rules has increased across all Snowflake customers - more tags applied to more objects - and more so in FS. But the exciting news lies in the use of that data: 182% increase in queries run against privacy protected data by financial services customers, versus 142% for all Snowflake customers. https://lnkd.in/dqcncC6U

I've been asking about whether data strategy matches AI ambition but that's all wrong. It's not about AI, which is just a means to an end. It's about your organization's ambition and business goals. Let's align data strategy to business goals, and use AI (or any other technology) when and where it's needed.

Our food system is ripe for radical transformation! Shifting consumer preferences, climate change, overproduction, massive food inequalities, and unsustainable levels of waste add up to a recipe for disaster. We're going to need 70% more food to feed the planet by 2050, yet food loss and waste (yes, they are different) are prevalent across the supply chain. Although I don't know him personally, I have benefitted from the work of his team. Despite being a Genius I'm always looking for recommendations on where to go next.
