💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯 This is what I'm telling ALL of my candidates: DO NOT RELY ON APPLICATIONS!! The chances are the resume sitting in the middle of a stack of 500+ profiles will likely never be seen by human eyes. Your best bet is to go through an intro. This could be a direct referral, it could be hitting up the hiring manager with a concise but detailed note, or it could be a recruiter that is working with the hiring manager and is trusted to vet any submissions. These are the folks that are seen first. Don't depend on applications to get you the first interview--look for other doors and connections. #hiring #openforwork

80% of VP of Product roles are not publicly listed, so your only way in is via recruiters, VCs, or hiring managers. Ben and I recently hosted Aakash Gupta in the Supra insider pod to discuss why most leadership roles are unlisted and his latest article, The Product Leadership Job Search, the best resource I've consumed on the topic. We covered a ton of ground in this episode: • Aakash’s motivation for writing the article • Definitions for what it means to be a product leader in this environment • Biggest findings (and surprises) from researching the article, including that the best leadership jobs often aren’t posted • Why it’s important to build and nurture relationships with product recruiters and venture capital teams • How to set yourself up for successful relationships with hiring managers Aakash brought incredible energy and insights to this conversation. We think you're going to love it. Episode links in first comment 👇
100% agree! That's a key reason why we built Talentpair to give candidates and hiring managers the power of great relationships, candidate screening and referrals at scale. Human experts in the loop with hiring automation. Think Jeanne (Orm) Curtice brand, hi-touch and skills in the loop on every applicant/job to facilitate great connections. Not just a pile of resumes of real humans waiting to be reviewed or unposted jobs.
Thanks for amplifying, Jeanne (Orm) Curtice! I couldn't agree more. Relationships with experience recruiters like you have never been more important 🙌

2moI know far too many people who reach out via linked in or email to these hiring managers to get completely ignored. It’s frustrating as heck and it’s way too consistent across my colleagues and connections to be a coincidence. Thoughts on how to get through? I see these types of things posted often but like “send a note” isn’t working lol.
