The Community of Practice (CoP) for Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) in the Mediterranean is a voluntary expert group of MSP professionals from EU and non-EU countries. It was launched on January 26, 2023, by #CINEA and #DG_MARE, with the support of the #WestMed_Initiative. The main objective of the #MED-MSP-CoP is to establish a permanent communication and dialogue across borders between MSP experts and to exchange knowledge and relevant experiences in the region. This will help to reach a shared perspective on topics of common interest on MSP and enhance cooperation between the north and south of the Mediterranean. The MED-MSP-CoP is open to all MSP experts, including planners, technical experts, and researchers. The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology has launched its Space Regulatory Review. The report identifies 7 priority outcomes and 17 recommendations, to maintain the UK as one of the best places on Earth to start, scale and run a space business:  1. Agility – greater, responsive coordination across government departments and regulators 2. Innovation - a dynamic framework that supports novel and emerging missions and technologies 3. Growth - a progressive regulatory framework that encourages investment 4. International partnership – a multilateral alliance with other spacefaring nations with aligned regulatory frameworks and international best practice 5. Safety and sustainability - incentivising sustainable space activities, protecting the space environment and its celestial bodies 6. Accessibility - a coherent suite of primary and secondary space legislations and clear published guidance 7. National interest - a civil and commercial space regulatory framework that supports UK national security. https://lnkd.in/eTyyyA7T

These instruments will undergo a meticulous process involving the Specialised Committee on Participation in Union Programmes, with the ultimate approval resting in the hands of the Council of the European Union. Horizon Europe, the epitome of European research and innovation, and Copernicus, the ground-breaking Earth observation programme, continue to spearhead scientific advancements. This strategic collaboration ensures that the UK remains an integral part of global efforts to propel innovation, combat climate change, and champion sustainability. 🚀 European Space Policy Institute (ESPI) in Berlin ESPI x BDI ➡ More Space Debate in Europe 🛰 As part of our visit in Berlin, ESPI Director H. Ludwig Moeller and myself had the pleasure to continue interesting discussions about the future of Europe in space, the question how to increase European political debate about space in order to connect space with other policy fields and non-space industry sectors, with Matthias Johannes Wachter and Ramona Schmitt from the BDI - Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie e.V. & German NewSpace Initiative. Europe needs a platform of debate at highest political level, from public bodies, industry, finance, for elaborating on coherent public policy direction for the development of space in Europe, as a key enabler of sectors like #green & #sustainability, #energy, #security, #mobility and #agriculture.
