Eutelsat Group colleagues Chehineze BOUAFIA and Garreth Spillane were in Tokyo last week to accept a certificate recognising our platinum rating in the Space Sustainability Rating (SSR) for the Eutelsat OneWeb constellation 📜 Chehineze and Garreth were attending the Secure World Foundation’s Space Sustainability Summit when they accepted the award. The summit provided an opportunity to highlight the importance of space as a shared natural and finite resource; with the aim of the SSR to encourage and incentivize space actors to design and implement sustainable & responsible space missions for the long-term sustainability of the space environment. Sustainability is a continual journey that requires constant efforts, and all of us across Eutelsat Group remain committed to furthering our work in this area alongside the wider space community. The award recognises the above and beyond efforts our team has gone through in our mission to be a responsible and sustainable operator. We are honoured to receive this recognition and applaud the work of all of our colleagues that made this possible!

Eutelsat Group is transitioning to green energy contracts for our ground station sites in Cagliari and Turin, Italy 💚 From now on, all the electricity supplied to these sites will come from renewable sources, complementing the solar power already generated on-site. This significant milestone is a testament to our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, in line with the Paris Agreement, and one of the core pillars of our CSR strategy. The new contracts highlights our dedication to combating global warming and minimizing our environmental impact by enhancing the sustainability of our operations. It is a crucial step towards achieving our goal of reducing energy-related greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 50% by 2030.

We had the privilege and honor of welcoming the Brigade de sapeurs-pompiers de Paris (BSPP) to our Family Day at Eutelsat Group last week 🚒 As part of our ongoing commitment to societal engagement through our CSR activities, we have equipped a Communication Support Vehicle (CSV) with cutting-edge connectivity infrastructure, leveraging our next-generation satellite networks. In emergencies, when public networks are congested or unavailable, communication becomes critical. The satellite-connected CSV ensures reliable, resilient communication between front-line responders and command units, facilitating seamless radio, voice, and internet communications. This state-of-the-art vehicle, now utilizing the Ka-band on our EUTELSAT KONNECT satellite, supports high-capacity applications, multiple simultaneous calls, file transfers, streaming, teleconferencing, and provides connectivity to a private 4G tactical bubble. This initiative is part of our technology partnerships aimed at protecting civilian populations. We are proud to play a pivotal role in enhancing emergency response communications, ensuring that vital connections remain intact even in the most challenging situations. A huge thank you to the BSPP for their dedication and for bringing the vehicle along to our event, and of course to our Eutelsat team for making this possible.

What a great couple of days. A cosmic congratulations to our colleagues at ARIANESPACE on a huge milestone for the European space industry following the successful launch of Ariane 6 🚀 Arianespace has been a long-standing partner for both Eutelsat Group and Eutelsat OneWeb, and last night’s successful inaugural flight introduced a new vehicle into the launch market. Increased access to space is crucial for operators such as Eutelsat Group, so this is a significant moment of celebration for the space industry. Congratulations to all the teams involved; we are looking forward to a bright future ahead for Ariane 6!

Greater options equals greater opportunities as space continues to increase its influence over economics, politics and science. Our colleague Agnès Pleinecassagne recently completed her "Sustainable Transformation Strategist" training programme, funded by Eutelsat Group 💚 The "Sustainable Transformation Strategist" programme at École Polytechnique EXED is a key example of how we want to support our staff in acquiring cutting-edge expertise to tackle critical issues like sustainability. Agnès' training will help to equip our team - and our partners - with the knowledge to drive decarbonization in our sector. Eutelsat Group is committed to empowerment, skill development, and continuous training, in order to empower our colleagues to reach their full potential. We have agreed a new multi-year, multi-transponder agreement renewing and expanding our work with TVN Warner Bros. Discovery, the Polish subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery, providing capacity at Eutelsat Group’s HOTBIRD video neighbourhood 📺 Under the deal, TVN Warner Bros. Discovery will leverage the premium HOTBIRD capacity to enhance its services across its existing footprint as well as to support its broadcast activities during the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Part of the additional capacity will be used during the Games to distribute seven dedicated channels including a 4K UHD channel for the event. Commenting on the agreement, Laurence Delpy, President of Eutelsat Group's video business unit, said: "TVN Warner Bros. Discovery is an anchor customer of Eutelsat, and we are honoured that it is extending its relationship with us. "The HOTBIRD video neighbourhood plays a leading role in the dynamic Polish broadcast market, offering unequalled coverage of homes across Poland and further afield.
