Our CEO, Eva Berneke, joined fellow space industry leaders for a lively panel debate at the Paris Air Forum yesterday 💭 Alongside Stéphane Israël of ARIANESPACE; Herve DERREY of Thales Alenia Space; and Philippe Baptiste of the Centre National d'Études Spatiales, the discussion centered on how Europe can hold its own amid an increasingly competitive global space landscape. Eva notably urged Europe to transition from an ‘haute couture’ model to a more industrialized approach, warning that failing to make this leap could leave Europe lagging behind more integrated players. The panel concluded that Europe's success hinges on a more unified, coordinated approach between different players in the supply chain. State-funding for technological innovation, enhanced cost control and closely listening to and addressing customer needs will also be key enablers of Europe’s success as the space market continues to grow.

🚀 This morning at the #ParisAirForum2024 organized by La Tribune an engaging debate took place featuring the space industry leaders: Eva Berneke CEO of Eutelsat Group; Stéphane Israël CEO of ARIANESPACE; Herve DERREY CEO of Thales Alenia Space; and Philippe Baptiste Chairman and CEO of CNES. The discussion, moderated by dominique gallois focused on the question: "how Europe can respond to the hegemonic threat posed by Starlink/SpaceX?" ✨Key points highlighted included Europe's significant technological strengths and challenges it faces in the space industry. Eva Berneke emphasized the urgent need for Europe to shift from a "haute couture" model to an industrialized approach. She warned that failing to make this transition could result in Europe lagging behind American's integrated business model by several years. 🚀The panelists agreed that Europe's success hinges on unity and the creation of a new European deal, leading to a more integrated verticalized industrial model, where each player would play its part: States funding technological innovation, industry committing to cost control and operators offering competitive services on the market. #ParisAirForum2024 #SpaceIndustry #Innovation #Sovereignty 🌍🚀Join the conversation and share your thoughts!

🚀 #ParisAirForum ✈ Plenty of interesting panels and keynote speeches today on various topics related to the future of the #EuropeanSpaceSector at the Paris Air Forum, organized by La Tribune. Key executives from private companies, from big companies to #NewSpace champions as well as representatives from European Space Agency - ESA, the European Commission, Armée de l’air et de l’espace. Among many others: 📢 EutelsatGroup CEO Eva Berneke, in a round table gathering ARIANESPACE, Thales Alenia Space and CNES highest representatives, insisted on the need to change the European approach of "haute couture" type taylor-made space products to a more "ready-to-wear" launchers and satellites, meeting the challenge of the international competition. 📢 Thierry Breton, highlighted the achievements reached by the EU with programs such as #Copernicus and #Galileo, that will soon be followed by the upcoming #IRIS² secure connectivity program, which all aim at increasing the level of European sovereignty in space. This ambition is clearly established in the European Strategic Compass, and needs to be pursued as a priority.

President of ELGRA | Head of Clusters (NW) - UK Research and Innovation | Science and Technology Facilities Council
Great to be here at the UK Space Conference in sunny Belfast. Kicking off the panel on ‘Why do Space Clusters matter?’ Nafeesa Dajda (Satellite Applications Catapult) chairs this exciting conversation, Joined by:- Christina Smith - Space Hub Yorkshire Jill Hutchinson - Thales Alenia Space Martin Barstow - Space Park Leicester Kelly Murphy - Invest Northern Ireland Key takeaways:- There are 15 active space clusters in the UK - are you connected to yours? https://lnkd.in/e5ec6VZS Cross fertilisation between sectors is a key benefit of clusters - for example did you know Space Hub Yorkshire is bringing actors from the space, finance and agricultural sectors together to help realise the benefits of space together https://lnkd.in/ebFfNj2U The importance of both a national and local drive to grow clusters - for example the UK Space Agency earlier this year had a call to support local growth of clusters https://lnkd.in/ecFqQrpp Finally Collaboration is best when it happens both ways Alan Cross |Gemma W. | Jessica Brush

🚀 Exciting Workshop Update! We are pleased to announce that a successful workshop was held the 26th of June at Thales Alenia Space premises in Cannes with our esteemed partners and members of the advisory board, as part of our Space USB Project (Thales Alenia Space, Sener Aerospace & Defence, Space Applications Services NV/SA, iBOSS, Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz (DFKI), SpaceLocker, Airbus Defence and Space, European Space Agency - ESA, OHB System AG). The workshop, focusing on the definition of specifications for standard interfaces, brought together key stakeholders to engage in productive discussions and collaborations. Our objectives for this workshop were as follows: - Discuss preliminary specifications: A detailed presentation was given on the state-of-the-art standard interfaces (SIs), the project objectives and the three European solutions: HOTDOCK, SIROM, and iSSI. This ensured a comprehensive understanding and alignment among all parties. Participants reviewed and analyzed the initial specifications provided. - Identify Hard/Open Points: The workshop served as a platform to identify and address challenging or unresolved points within the prospective standard. This collaborative approach aimed to harmonize different perspectives and reach a consensus. - Formulate Recommendations on Next Steps: Through in-depth discussions, participants formulated actionable recommendations for the next steps. These recommendations will guide the ongoing development and refinement of the standard interfaces, ensuring they meet the highest quality and functionality standards. The workshop was marked by a cooperation mindset and a shared commitment to advancing our project’s goals. We extend our gratitude to all participants for their valuable contributions and look forward to the continued collaboration as we move forward. Stay tuned for more updates on our progress as we work towards establishing robust and effective standard interfaces for the European space sector. #SpaceUSBProject #SpaceInnovation #StandardInterfaces #Collaboration #SpaceSector Image : Copyright E-Briot/Thales Alenia Space

Venture Investor at I2BF | 10+ years transforming boring and unsexy industries with frontier tech (B2B SaaS, Quantum Technology, SpaceTech & DeepTech) | space dreamer and ex-rocket scientist
What is the first thing which comes to your mind when you think about Italy and Turin? Personally, I think about the 2006 Winter Olympics. However, Italy is the second EU country after Germany in the aerospace sector, and Turin is its heart. By the way, I was surprised to learn that Italy was the third country in the world to launch a satellite after the USSR and the US. We at Space Ambition have put together an inspiring article with an overview of the Italian aerospace sector. I hope you will like it! https://bit.ly/3POhJuj
