This week we’re marking a big moment in our sustainability journey with the arrival of 50 new state-of-the-art biomethane trucks into our transport fleet!   The trucks will immediately replace 50 diesel units, cutting down tailpipe carbon emissions by up to 90%. The biomethane fleet will be operated by Tesco’s transport partner DHL Supply Chain and the trucks will be used to transport produce to our 177 stores from our distribution centres in Dublin. Biomethane is a renewable energy source produced from organic waste, offering a cleaner alternative to traditional fossil fuels. A positive step that could be extended by adopting double deckers with two full length fixed decks - 50 could become c35.
