KPM Franklin is a rapidly growing civil engineering and land surveying firm seeking a full-time survey field tech 2 (instrument person) for our Kissimmee office. Ideal candidates will have 1-3 years of field experience as an instrument operator and/or rodman. This person will assist the survey crew chief with completing crew assignments for survey field projects; be able to accurately and efficiently clear lines, establish points, tape, chain and level in the field; keep assigned crew vehicle clean, properly maintained and stocked with necessary supplies; load and unload, clean and store field surveying equipment, and report any mechanical or safety related equipment and vehicle problems to the crew chief. All applicants must have a Florida driver's license with a clean driving record and be willing to work overtime and occasionally travel out of town for an extended period of time. This person also must be physically able to stand for long periods of time on various surface types while working outdoors in all terrain and under all weather conditions.

Project Management Responsibilities

  • Assist the survey crew chief with completing crew assignments for survey field projects
  • Able to accurately and efficiently clear lines, establish points, tape, chain and level in the field
  • Keep assigned crew vehicle clean, properly maintained and stocked with necessary supplies
  • Load, unload, clean and store field surveying equipment
  • Report any mechanical or safety related equipment and vehicle problems to the crew chief
  • Work overtime and occasionally travel out of town for an extended period of time
  • Physically able to work outdoors in all terrain and under all weather conditions
  • Able to stand for long periods of time on various surface terrain

Education, Experience And Software Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Florida driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Minimum 1-3 years of survey project management experience
  • Proficient using and caring for GPS, total Station and data collector equipment

Desired Skills And Experience, But Not Required

  • Certified survey technician (CST) certification
  • AutoCAD experience
  • FDOT Work Group 8 surveying and mapping standards and procedures experience
  • Understanding of latest technologies related to aerial, mobile and terrestrial LiDAR
