Senior Vice President, Asset Management

Article Student Living is hiring a real estate professional with at least ten years of relevant commercial real estate experience for Senior Vice President of Asset Management. Experience in asset and investment management and real estate analytics is required. You can work in a growing firm focused on student housing development, acquisition, and investment management.


This role is based at our home office in the Fulton Market area. It requires in-office attendance 4 to 5 days per week, and you may travel up to 30% of the time.


You will report to the Head of Investment Management.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement asset strategies to lead value and manage risk.
  • Manage a portfolio of assets to implement business plans and maximize investor returns.
  • Direct leasing, capital improvements, and operations teams to improve performance.
  • Monitor the investment from the development stage through disposition, emphasizing the asset’s initial lease-up through stabilization, refinance, and disposition.
  • Lead the communication and approval processes with investors and joint venture partners.
  • Oversee investment committee processes, including annual budget planning and dispositions.
  • Ensure compliance with investor and property-level agreements.
  • Produce portfolio-level and investor reporting.
  • Evaluate investment and property performance against proforma and budget.
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and maintain financial models.
  • Prepare quarterly asset valuations, manage third-party valuation consultant processes, and approve final valuations.
  • Lead the Asset Management team.
  • Communicate with Investment Management on property performance.
  • Prepare strategic asset reviews, hold, and sell analyses, and present recommendations to the executive team.
  • Support property refinancing and recapitalizations.
  • Provide due diligence input on new investment opportunities.
  • Visit assets and markets biannually to monitor performance and identify opportunities.
  • Collaborate with property management staff to develop and approve budgets and business plans.
  • Guide relationships and provide direction with consultants, brokers, contractors, vendors, lenders, and legal counsel.


Your Track Record

  • Minimum of 10+ years of prior real estate asset management and investment analytical experience.
  • Experience in student housing is helpful.
  • Technical skills with proficiency in Excel (can perform complex functions) , Word, and PowerPoint. Yardi and Entrata experience is helpful.
  • Process-improvement focused.
  • Ethical, collaborative, and open professional.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
