Job Title: Network Planner IV

Location: Onsite - Candidates can sit in any of these Client offices (Menlo Park, CA/ Seattle, WA/ Denver, CO/ New York, NY)

Duration: 12 Months

Summary:

Responsible for the sourcing, selection, delivery, and maintenance of Ethernet over optical networks from telecom carriers. This role involves extensive collaboration with carriers to ensure optimal path routing and redundancy, as well as managing Wavelength or Ethernet services such as EPL

Must-Have Skills

• Multiple carrier optical services – procured and extended
• Demonstrated experience managing WDM or MEF-based Ethernet services
• Understanding of 10G and 100G Ethernet standards
• Understanding of fiber optic outside plant/networks
• 5 years relevant experience in carrier ethernet engineering or sourcing
• Delivery of the purchase from the carrier

Nice-to-have Skills:

• Have coordinated the purchase and supply of carrier ethernet or wavelength services
• MEF(Metro Ethernet Forum) Carrier Ethernet experience
• Experience with DWDM, ROADM, optical amplification, and transponders
• Experience with long-haul DWDM.
• Understanding of submarine fiber networks
• Use of Google Earth Pro to review KMZ
• Familiarity with testing of Ethernet circuits per RFC2544
• Cross-functional communication with technical resources to test and land carrier Ethernet services

Job Responsibilities:

• Work closely with telecommunications carriers to find and secure lit fiber services (Ethernet) that meet specific routing and redundancy requirements.

• Analyze carrier-provided KMZ files to understand routing paths and ensure they meet the organization's redundancy and diversity needs. Recommend changes to improve network reliability.

• Design and implement Ethernet over optical networks, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. Create detailed network diagrams and documentation.

• Provide technical support and expertise to resolve carrier-related issues. Answer technical questions from carriers about Ethernet services and ensure seamless integration.

• Manage Ethernet services, including Ethernet Private Line (EPL) and other carrier Ethernet services. Ensure proper configuration and performance of these services.

• Oversee the delivery of circuits from carriers, from initial order through to installation and testing. Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely delivery.

• Organize testing of Ethernet handoffs, including performance and reliability testing. Validate that all services meet specified requirements and standards.
