Overview

Do you want to make an impact on developer experience across the globe? We are growing at an exponential scale and are looking for a senior leader to own, develop, and grow the core of GitHub - our Platform Engineering, Infrastructure and Tools organization. You should be an ambitious, passionate, technical, and collaborative leader, with a strong background in empowering high performing teams and an ability to deliver business results. Reporting to the VP of Platform and Enterprise, the Senior Director of Product Management will lead a team of successful product managers focused on building GitHub’s internal Platform-as-a-Service and developer tooling.

Responsibilities

• Define team’s vision and strategy, incorporating feedback from Design, Engineering, Finance, and Revenue partners to deliver the core platform, internal tooling and infrastructure for GitHub applications.
• Develop and own a comprehensive product roadmap reflecting direct customer needs, pain points, adoption blockers, and feedback from internal teams.
• Establish metrics and methods to measure product results and adoption to measure the success and business of your products and new features. Continuously monitor and analyze data to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to define technical specifications and ensure highest operational excellence for your product including availability, security, scale, and performance.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment between business goals and product development.
• Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities and trends in the Platform Engineering space to accelerate the state of the art at GitHub.
• Ensure the team and the company have a clear understanding of the direction of the projects and the reasoning behind decisions.
• Engage with internal customers to identify opportunities to deliver value, and build relationships to better understand how to serve our customers.
• Mentor, coach and grow your team. Ensure each of your product managers grow and advance their skill sets to be successful in their careers.
• Foster an inclusive environment across the company where team members are empowered to do their best work and demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and belonging.
  
  

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years experience in technical product/service/project/program management, software development, product design, or related field
• OR Bachelor's Degree in related field AND 8+ years experience in product/service/project/program management, software development, product design, or related field
• OR equivalent experience.
• 5+ years people management experience.
• Experience as a platform engineering or infrastructure-focused product manager or leader.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in operating physical data centers and leading product transitions to cloud platforms.
• Understanding of core cloud platform technologies such as MySQL, Kubernetes, Datadog, etc.
• Ability to communicate clearly and articulate complex technical problems in a simple and easily understood way.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers to influence team direction through internal customer and technical analysis.
• Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests, recommend alternative technical and business approaches, and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions.
  
  

Compensation Range

The base salary range for this job is USD $134,800.00 - USD $357,500.00 /Yr.

These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
