Position Overview

As a Project Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing complex to specialized transport of transformer movement and heavy haul freight forwarding activities. Requires full knowledge of customers and carriers, addressing complex or escalated internal/external customer questions and concerns, and providing customer service, quotes and tracking.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute the transportation and logistics of transformer movement projects from start to finish in collaboration with Project Managers and Team Leads.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external partners to ensure smooth and efficient project execution
  • Liaison with the customer and service providers for transportation requirement
  • Maintain schedule and communicate regularly with the customer on updates and any deviations
  • Execute project to or below specified budget
  • Change management with the customer to address scope and other changes
  • Evaluate risk and address with the appropriate internal resources to minimize risk
  • Maintain accurate files for transportation documentation and financial tracking
  • Track transportation invoicing from suppliers to close out files, and to timely invoice clients
  • Manage and negotiate contracts with transportation providers and other service providers
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in transformer movement projects
  • Receive booking from agents or clients, prepare quotation for clients and follow up with them
  • Conduct freight negotiations with carriers, haulers, freight handlers, overseas offices and agents for all modes of transportation, to ensure price competitiveness and profitability
  • Follow up with operation & subcontractors until the shipment delivered to customers
  • Assist with preparation of RFQ and Bid Tender Responses
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Proven experience in project operations with specific experience in transformer movement projects
  • In-depth knowledge of transportation and logistics processes, including customs regulations and documentation requirements
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to effectively plan, organize, and prioritize multiple projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on finding innovative solutions to complex challenges
  • Proficient in using project management software and tools
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Willingness to travel as required for project oversight and client meetings


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully in accordance with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance in accordance with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
