STANDARD HOURS: 14-16 Hours per week. Schedule to be determined at the time of hire. Flexibility Required

Monday-Thursday 10:30AM-4:30PM and 4:30PM-10:30PM

Friday 10:30AM-4:30PM, 4:30PM-11:00PM and 11:00PM-7:00AM

Saturday 7:00AM-3:00PM, 3:00PM-11:00PM and 11:00PM-7:00AM

Sunday 7:00AM-3:00PM and 3:00PM-9:00PM

Rate of pay: $15.00 per hour

Position Summary

This position serves as the first line of contact with NWTC students, staff, and members of the general public. Security officers respond to calls for service that may include complex and stressful situations.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • The Student security Officer will work under the direction of and take daily assignments from the Security Supervisor and/or Security Manager.
  • The Student Security Officer will receive their training from the Security Supervisor, Security Manager or his/her designee
    • The daily job assignments will vary, but generally the security officer will be required to:
    • Lock and unlock office and classroom doors as scheduled
    • Patrol the interior and exterior campus hallways and parking lots
    • Assist in providing basic first aid when needed
    • Respond to medical calls/fire alarms/vehicle lockouts or jump starts
    • Fill out Incident/Injury reports as needed
    • Navigate the camera monitoring system
    • Any other calls for service as requested

Skills & Abilities

Education:

  • High School graduate or equivalent

Experience: Preferences given to applicant is currently enrolled at NWTC in the Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement or Criminal Justice Corrections/Advocacy Program

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to handle emergency and non-emergency situations in an efficient manner.
  • Ability to write detailed reports.
  • Basic working knowledge and possess computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently in approaching and resolving concerns.
  • Must be able to make critical judgment calls quickly and possess the ability to prioritize events in order of importance.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and deal tactfully and effectively with the public, staff and students.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to be insurable under the Districts standard insurance policy terms is preferred, but not a requirement.
