Instructional Development Manager

Overview

communities. The Instructional Development Manager (IDM) will play a pivotal role in the

success of EIM’s mission with our University Partner (UP) stakeholders. The IDM will manage a

team of Instructional Developers (IDs) responsible for supporting the creation and delivery of

online and hybrid courses designed by faculty and subject matter experts (SMEs) across UP

clients and academic disciplines (i.e., DPT, OTD, PA, etc.). The Instructional Development

Manager will also work closely with the Director of Curriculum Development and Design,

EdTech and Innovation Manager, Educational Resource Manager, Curriculum Managers, and

Academic team members to enhance the delivery of graduate healthcare curricula and to

support systems for collaborative course and content development and outcomes assessment.

Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to the following):

  • Manage a team of IDs, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure the

successful completion of courses and projects and consistent positive performance of

team members.

  • Work alongside Director of Curriculum Development and Design, EdTech and Innovation

Manager, and Curriculum Managers to foster a collaborative and innovative team

environment.

  • Support development and management of a ticketing process for course and project

work to be submitted, prioritized appropriately, and assigned to IDs.

  • Monitor overall ID team workload to ensure progress toward team and organizational

annual goals. Regularly measure ID work to target greater team efficiency on assigned

projects relative to annual goals.

  • Assist the CDD team in developing UP programs with tailored development and delivery

of courses to achieve program goals and meet regional and programmatic accreditation

requirements.

  • Provide high-level instructional design expertise and feedback for the development and

support of engaging and effective instructional materials, such as eLearning modules

and multimedia content, for all academic courses, faculty training and onboarding

Experiences, And Other Educational Work Products.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices for

instructional design, while also delivering training and professional development

opportunities to the ID team.

  • Oversee, develop, and update one-off special projects as assigned.
  • Uphold the application of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and institutionspecific

design standards to instructional content to ensure conformance and

compliance with applicable regulations.

  • Work with the CDD and Academic teams in designing, developing, and implementing

creative uses of technologies and evaluation procedures to assess effectiveness of using

technologies in teaching and learning processes.

  • Work collaboratively with CDD team, SMEs, and other departments as needed to gather

information, align instructional content with organizational goals, and meet project

requirements.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues with the ID team related to the development of online

courses and eLearning materials. Make best practice recommendations for solutions

related to technical issues.

  • Collaborate with technical team(s), both internal and external, to resolve issues

promptly and efficiently.

  • Ensure alignment of instructional design strategies with EIM and CDD team

organizational goals.

  • As needed, assist in scheduling and planning of on-call, after-hours (i.e., evenings,

weekends) help-desk support, on a rotating basis, to UP faculty requests in our Faculty

and Student support center.

Qualifications

Key Qualifications

  • Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Educational Technology, Instructional

Design, or related field with 8 years of relevant work experience, including

proven personnel and project management expertise

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in online course design and development
  • Experience using learning management systems (i.e. Canvas, Brightspace,

Blackboard, or equivalent)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of media technology and instructional design theory in

an academic setting and working effectively in a collaborative environment

  • Demonstrated ability in two or more of the following specific production areas:
  • Multimedia development
  • Software Analysis and Design
  • Programming for web-based environments
  • Technology support
  • Comprehensive Instructional Design
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to thrive in a diversified work environment with varying levels of

ambiguity

  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed but able to work in a fast-paced team

environment

  • The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in instructional design,

project management, and team leadership.

  • This role requires a strategic thinker who can effectively manage multiple

projects, foster collaboration among team members, and ensure and oversee

the timely delivery of multiple ongoing projects.

  • The ideal candidate will display a track record of working under deadlines in a

fast-paced environment, and an ability to problem solve and think critically when

faced with challenges. Due diligence is key.
