HIM Specialist (Part Time) -- Remote

Join our dedicated Health Information Management team in a vital role where your efforts directly contribute to our operational excellence and overall mission. As a HIM Specialist, you will support the seamless management of health data in compliance with legal and regulatory standards. You'll play a key role in ensuring that health information is accessible while maintaining its accuracy, privacy, and security.

What You Will Do

Document Management: Efficiently upload and organize patient documentation into our electronic medical record system. Ensure all records are accurate and reflect the latest information.

Data Integrity: Proactively communicate any discrepancies in documentation or data to the Health Information Management Manager. Alert the manager to any issues with obtaining required clinical information from providers.

Information Retrieval: Fetch and log information from various sources to support health information tracking and metrics. This may include accessing external electronic medical records (EMRs), paper records, and other sources as necessary.

Release of Information: Handle sensitive information requests, ensuring that all releases and retrievals of medical records comply with organizational policies and privacy regulations.

Support for Clinical Teams: Act as a pivotal support figure for clinical teams by managing medical record requests efficiently to aid timely patient care.

Operational Support: Address immediate needs such as processing ad hoc telephone encounters and new patient enrollments within a 48-hour window.

Additional Responsibilities: Take on other relevant tasks as needed, contributing to team efforts and organizational goals.

Education

Who We Are Looking For:

An Associate's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

A minimum of two years in a medical office setting, or a relevant combination of education and experience.

Skills And Abilities

Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, medical procedures, medications, and laboratory tests.

Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate both individually and as part of a team.

High attention to detail with a commitment to prompt follow-up and resolution.

Keen interest in professional development and continuous learning.

Language

Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of a secondary language is a plus but not necessary.
