SCOPE OF POSITION
The Field Engineer will assume numerous other roles ranging from Field Engineer, Assistant Field Operator to Project Coordinator as the ever-changing demands of the workplace dictate. A successful candidate must have well-developed interpersonal, organizational and communication skills as well as strong problem-solving abilities. The position will involve significant amounts of travel. As part of a small growing team of employees, you will be relied on for your flexibility and versatility.

OVERALL GOALS FOR POSITION
- Gain experience and exposure as a contractor in the mining, construction and infrastructure industries
- Expand skill set through training and certifications to become an asset to a larger team.
- Complete complex site investigation programs throughout North America that we operate in.
- Assist in developing new business by providing a wide-ranging skillset.
Equipment Operation
- Familiarize with and operate High Resolution Site Characterization tools for environmental site investigations, SCPTu equipment, VST, sampling systems, numerous geophysical instruments and other in-situ testing equipment safely and productively.
- Become trained, company-certified and competent to operate numerous types of drilling equipment and other pieces of equipment within our extensive fleet.
- Organize logistics for the mobilization and demobilization of equipment in hard-to-access environments.
- Perform routine maintenance on various pieces of equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform testing to collect data in a timely, orderly and accurate manner.
- Compile the collected data, sample logs, etc. daily and submit to the Engineer/Supervisor and/or client for further processing.
- Collect field notes and photos to guarantee the translation of data from the field to the office is as highly accurate as possible.
- Prepare and compile final field reports.
- Identify with and respect ConeTec’s safety culture, first and foremost.
- Ensure proper preparation and knowledge of all necessary safe operating procedures before beginning any job.
- Report any safety-related incidents, infractions, or near misses to the Project Manager and the HSE Officer, immediately.
- Know and follow the incident reporting protocol at all times.
- Communicate with the Supervisor or Project Manager as to any equipment problems or needs, as well as any field observations that might be of use.
- Perform other shop functions as required.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Applied Science, Geology, Geophysics or Related Fields.
- Knowledgeable in a wide range of ConeTec's testing types and mechanically inclined.
- Driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Previous field experience would be an asset but not required.
- Be able to work in a variety of remote locations.
- Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, moving heavy materials up to 50 lbs., climbing, crawling as well as walking on uneven ground, working long hours in all weather conditions
- Electrical and mechanical technical skills are an asset.
- Having data processing and report preparation skills is an asset
- Must possess a strong work ethic and professionally represent the company.
- Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Must be responsible and work well independently or in a team setting with minimal supervision.
- Must enjoy working outdoors and travelling for extended periods.
- Must enjoy performing a wide variety of duties and be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Strong decision-maker with the ability to work independently in remote locations.
- Must be flexible and capable of taking on a variety of roles as required by business needs.
- Flexibility with schedule and variable work loads.
