POSITION TITLE: English/Spanish Translator - Front Office Support

Position Summary
The translator should have the ability to understand and accept the philosophy of the Bilingual Education Department in reference to the education of English Learners (ELs), have basic knowledge of bilingual education and its terminology, and have excellent English & Spanish (listening, speaking, reading and writing) skills.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be bilingual/bicultural in Spanish and English
Advanced knowledge of written Spanish and English
College degree required
Must be able to use Google Suite (including advanced knowledge of Google Sheets)
Trained in the use of PowerSchool preferred

Update and review all paperwork pertaining to translations
Ability to exercise tact and discretion when dealing with people and to maintain confidentiality with regard to student / family information

Performance Responsibilities
Translate (English/Spanish) documents and maintain files and translations log
Interpret in meetings/expulsion hearings as needed
Assist parents in completing various school forms, transportation information and school locations
Handle student registrations/files and inform parents of EL services - to include placement testing if certified or on EP
Update and review all paperwork pertaining to registrations, including magnet registrations
General clerical tasks (fax, copies, file, etc.)
Assist in maintaining BSD website
Perform other duties as assigned
