Job Title: Director of Risk Management Location: Phoenix, Arizona (In-Office) Work Type: In-Office. Excellent work/life balance. Most weeks average 40-45 hours. Compensation: Up to $180K base DOE + 15% bonus The Kostelic Agency, in partnership with a rapidly growing real estate investment firm in Scottsdale, is excited to announce a job opportunity for a Director of Risk Management. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team as a crucial member! About the Company: Founded over 15 years ago, our client is a thriving organization operating in a niche real estate market. With a remarkable journey of exponential growth, the company has recently secured substantial new funding and is about to start its fourth round. The company has expanded from managing 11 assets to 78 assets, with a current valuation of $2B. Why Apply? Diverse Responsibilities: Engage in various aspects of risk management, from financial analysis to insurance strategy. Collaborative Environment: Work closely with senior leaders and other departments to ensure the overall health and stability of the company's portfolio. Key Responsibilities: Risk Assessment and Analysis: Identify and evaluate potential risks to properties, tenants, employees, and operations. Analyze various factors, including financial, legal, operational, and strategic, to assess the impact and likelihood of each risk. Risk Mitigation and Control: Develop and implement risk management policies, procedures, and controls to minimize exposure to identified risks. Work closely with property managers, maintenance teams, and other stakeholders to address and mitigate operational risks. Insurance Management: Oversee the organization's insurance programs, including property insurance, liability insurance, and workers' compensation. Ensure appropriate coverage levels and negotiate favorable terms with insurance providers. Legal Compliance: Monitor regulatory requirements related to the company's business sector and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Provide guidance and support to ensure that leases, contracts, and other agreements are in compliance with legal requirements. Emergency Preparedness and Response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans to ensure the safety and security of properties and tenants in the event of natural disasters, accidents, or other emergencies. Coordinate with local authorities and emergency services to facilitate timely and effective responses. Risk Reporting and Communication: Provide regular reports to senior management and stakeholders on the organization's risk exposure, mitigation efforts, and overall risk management performance. Communicate effectively with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory authorities regarding risk-related matters. Position Requirements: Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree in risk management, finance, business administration, or a related field. Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., ARM, CRM, CIRM) preferred. Years of Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in risk management, preferably in the property management or real estate industry. Qualifications: Strong knowledge of risk assessment methodologies, insurance principles, and legal compliance requirements. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify, analyze, and prioritize risks effectively. Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels. Proven track record of developing and implementing successful risk management strategies and programs. Preferred Background: Experience from a large Fortune 500 company with sophisticated risk management practices preferred. Experience in private equity or a risk management department preferred. Capable of sophisticated risk quantification and management. Able to provide insights and strategies for mitigating and insuring against risks.
