Role And Responsibilities

This individual will be responsible for effectively leading the Financial Asset Management team in the delivery of customer services in support of wind/solar energy projects and funds.

Responsibilities Include

  • Build, structure, and lead a high functioning, self-sufficient team of expert Accounting Managers and Finance Associates to complete accounting requirements on renewable energy portfolios in accordance with U.S. GAAP accounting principles while ensuring excellent customer service
  • Develop & implement strategies to increase overall effectiveness & efficiency of team, including automation and offshoring
  • Own client relationships pertaining to Financial Asset Management and provide excellent customer service: interface with clients in support of accounting and audit activities, respond to client’s requests, ensure alignment with Radian’s scope of work, and resolve disputes as needed
  • Seek opportunities to increase or optimize Radian’s scope of work on existing & new client portfolios, and manage risks to existing scope
  • Establish and document proper accounting methods, policies, principles, and control documentation for new portfolios in the form of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and in accordance with Systems of Organization & Control (SOC) requirements
  • Support integration of Radian’s accounting system into Radian’s Asset Management platform; promote internal use of Asset Management system & optimize associated process to ensure efficiency & compliance
  • Oversee & optimize the onboarding of new solar/wind energy investment vehicles such as partnership flip, sale leaseback, inverted leases, and lease pass-through funds, etc; create structures and start-up accounting in Radian’s accounting system
  • Oversee all team activities: preparation of opening balances, ensuring all entries are posted, providing explanations for variances, completing reconciliations, managing bank accounts and AP/AR, managing budgeting processes, preparing draw requests, & generating consolidated monthly & quarterly financial statements for multiple investors in accordance with GAAP (balance sheet, income statement, members’ equity, and cash flow statements).
  • Manage support of external audits & tax preparation and ensure GAAP compliance across all entities.
  • Ensure compliance with financing documents, including debt service payments and equity distributions.
  • Ensure all intercompany accounts are reconciled and resolve any variances prior to close.
  • Oversee the generation and maintenance of HLBV (Hypothetical Liquidated Book Value) calculations and tracking models used in GAAP accounting for investments in tax equity partnerships; ensure validation of partnership contributions and distributions
  • Oversee the generation & maintenance of Energy Hedge models and associated accounting entries

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Sage Intacct accounting software platforms
  • Knowledge of legal structures common in the renewables industry (e.g., partnership flip, sale leaseback, inverted leases)
  • Familiarity with asset management services and renewable energy project life cycle
  • Familiarity with multi-entity consolidation
  • CPA

Required Qualification & Education

  • 8+ years previous experience in accounting with at least five years in a managerial capacity
  • Exposure to a variety challenging technical accounting concepts (e.g., leases, variable interest entities, business combinations)
  • The candidate should be prepared to demonstrate proficiency in the technical concepts with which they are familiar. Most importantly, the candidate should be able to explain how they obtained the proficiency and how they have been able to share that proficiency with those that they supervise.
  • Experience managing offshore accounting functions & developing cost effective resource strategies
  • Extensive knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Experience with multi-entity general ledger systems and financial statement consolidation
  • High levels of integrity & the ability to create and maintain highest levels of confidentiality when dealing with proprietary information and sensitive situations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented, well organized, excellent problem-solving skills, and ability to manage a team independently
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a fast–paced, entrepreneurial office setting
  • Demonstrated experience managing audits and tax filings
  • Passion to enter a growth-stage enterprise in renewable energy

The Pay Range For This Role Is

110,000 - 184,000 USD per year(Charlotte HQ)
