Class A CDL Driver - Facility Technician

Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking a Class A CDL Driver - Facility Technician for our San Leandro, CA team.

As a Facility Technician & Commercial A Driver, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient handling, documentation, and regulatory compliance of waste materials within our organization. Your responsibilities will include waste preparation, inventory management, regulatory review, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.

You will be responsible for maintaining the operational efficiency of our facilities while also fulfilling commercial driving duties as required. This role combines technical skills with driving responsibilities, making it essential for ensuring the smooth functioning of our operations.

This position reports to the Transportation Manager. This role is onsite and is based in San Leandro, CA. They pay range for this position is $34-$38/hour.

Essential responsibilities:

Waste Management and Transportation:

  • Prepare and document waste for transportation, ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
  • Load and unload trucks for incoming and outgoing shipments, with a focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Manage waste inventory using specialized software and tracking systems, maintaining accuracy and completeness of records.
  • Execute pick-up and delivery of hazardous and regulated medical waste, prioritizing customer service.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Learn and retain a basic knowledge of daily work practices related to waste management and transportation.
  • Familiarize with packaging guidelines, disposal facility selection, OSHA regulations, and EPA regulations.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately, including driver's daily logs and other regulatory documentation.

Vehicle Operations and Maintenance:

  • Drive commercial vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring they are in optimal condition for operation.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in driving manual transmission vehicles.

Communication and Teamwork:

  • Communicate effectively with end facilities, fellow employees, and customers to address complex issues and ensure smooth operations.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues as a team player, demonstrating supervisory leadership abilities and fostering a respectful working environment.
  • Prioritize customer satisfaction by delivering excellent service both internally and externally.

Basic Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazmat endorsement.
  • Basic knowledge of hazardous waste field or a strong interest in learning.
  • Flexibility with working hours to accommodate business needs and occasional overtime requirements.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities.
  • Successful completion of OSHA/DOT physical examination, including drug and alcohol screening.
  • Clean driving record and experience with driving manual transmission vehicles.
