We are seeking a Chief Financial Officer CFO - Direct Hire! You will help develop and execute the company's strategy and direction.
The Chief Financial Officer position is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.
Requirements
Principal accountabilities are:
Planning
Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives
Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans
Develop financial and tax strategies
Manage the capital request and budgeting processes
Develop performance measures that support the company's strategic direction
Operations
Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team
Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team
Manage the accounting, family relations, legal, tax, and treasury departments
Oversee the financial operations of subsidiary companies
Supervise the finance/accounting, related leadership development
Manage any third parties to which functions have been outsourced
Oversee the company's transaction processing systems
Implement operational best practices for accounting
Oversee employee benefit plans (health, disability, life, retirement, etc.) including compliance/reporting with particular emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefit package
Keep up-to-date records on corporate structure, Board resolutions, annual meeting, minutes
Financial Management Information
Oversee the issuance of financial information
Personally review and approve all financial reports and external filings with 3rd parties
Perform analytics and benchmarking to identify improvement opportunities
Report financial results and share profit enhancement ideas with the Board of Directors
Oversee the year-end reviewed financial statement process
Oversee tax affairs of the Company
Risk Management
Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile
Monitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry
Construct and monitor reliable control systems
Maintain appropriate insurance coverage -(workers' comp, liability, property, casualty, auto
Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
Report risk issues to the audit committee and/or board of directors
Maintain relations with external auditing bodies and investigate their findings and recommendations
Funding
Monitor cash balances, cash forecasts, and working capital needs
Arrange for debt and equity financing
Invest funds
Oversee retirement plans and investment of related assets
Play a lead role in all banking/financing relationships
Handle all government grant applications and oversee related reporting requirements
Third Parties
Participate in dealings with all the economic development community representatives
Maintain banking and accounting/consulting firm relationships
Represent the company with investment bankers and investors when and if appropriate
Family Related Roles
Oversee estate and succession planning
Facilitate communication among family members on business issues
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration, CPA preferred
Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in a financial executive role
Experience in partnering with an executive team, and have a high level of written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of GAAP, financial analysis, costing and internal controls
Established ability to lead, develop and manage direct reports
Strong detail orientation
Able to multi-task and use exceptional organizational skills
Strong relationship and presentation skills
Preference will be given to candidates with significant relevant finance experience in a manufacturing setting, MBAs trained in Finance, Certified Public Accountant or Certified Global Management Accountant designations
Additional Qualifications:
Ability to fulfill an interim controller role in the event the business experiences a temporary gap in having this position fully staffed.
