Department Summary

Finance & Administration Department - IT team provides hardware, security, data and business processes direction for DDC. The IT team manages the assignment of user credentials, hardware, security profiles and internal & external access of all networking hardware and software. The IT team's intricate work and sustainable efforts, impact all departments within the organization; our policies and processes guide the teams, successful deployment of all marketing and sales efforts. All departments at DDC support the businesses that contribute to our city's vibrant economy and the positive image and identity of Washington, DC as a world-class destination for locals, visitors, and convention attendees to enjoy.

Position Summary

Reports to: Director of IT & Business Intelligence

As the Business Applications Manager, you are responsible for hardware deployment, user management, onboarding and IT training, within the IT team efforts of supporting all team members. You will provide first-level customer support for technical assistance for staff members. Performing remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions. Determining the best solution based on the issue and details provided by customers aka staff members.

This role requires three days on-site with mandatory attendance on Mondays, and flexibility for the other two days.

As a successful Business Applications Manager, you will offer a combination of:

  • Information technology skills or interest, able to manage hardware, software, user setups, security setting and support of tickets.
  • Collaborative spirit to work effectively across the organization.
  • Creative solutions for supporting team members training and knowledge, skills and assessments of products.

Your Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include the following, but are not limited to)

F&A Department Specific

  • Serve as the level one customer support, for other software specific to the Administration arm of the F&A department; specifically regarding, selection of vendors, product usage & documentation, user management, security settings, and technical assistance for staff members.
  • Serve as backup and point-person for the Director of IT & Business Intelligence
    • Monitor IT ticketing portal for user submissions for assistance.
  • Understand DDC's policies and procedures regarding hoteling and provide user assistance regarding hoteling and hoteling software support.
  • Ensure own work area is maintained in a safe and clean manner.

Network Hardware and Systems Management

  • Manage the Domain controller user creation and security organization units (OU)'s
    • Manage the Air Inc. cloud, Sharepoint cloud security groups; Office 365 Teams and groups; Azure policies and user management.
  • Facilitates comprehensive training for DDC team members on all aspects of organizational hardware and software systems and serves as point person for user questions related to business tools used company-wide.
    • such as but not limited to Zoom, Docusign, ROBIN, Traverse platforms.
  • Oversees physical and wireless network connections and Remote Desktop connections and assignments within the office.
    • Performing remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions.
  • Serve as network user and security administrator (e.g. user account setup). Monitor usage of system passwords. Establish user access permissions when new employees are hired, promoted or terminated.

Cross Departmental

  • Responsible for receiving support tickets, testing and trying to resolve the tickets, if necessary, reporting the issues to vendors and overseeing any support costs and budgets for tickets, projects or work orders.
  • Manage business rules and hardware/software SOPs.
  • Ensure network system provides services required to support network integrity for all DDC departments. Work with other departments as appropriate to meet hardware and support requirements.

What You Bring: Knowledge, Competencies & Skills

  • One - three (1-3) years IT network or IT security support.
  • Customer relationship management (CRM) systems experience required.
  • Network +, Security + certifications preferred, but not required.
  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 software and cloud systems, SharePoint, OneDrive required.
  • Proven experience as a help desk technician or other customer technician support role
  • Proven experience in supporting CRM or CMS database systems, prefer SimpleView experience
  • Great sense of humor, positive attitude; strong customer service and business etiquette skills
  • Multi-tasker with superior organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in the travel and tourism economy and enthusiasm for Washington, DC.
