AIX Administrator

We are currently seeking an experienced, hands-on administrator with expertise in AIX/CS Linux/Unix operating systems, with extensive experience in VMWare and SAN/NAS storage. Knowledge of Kubernetes deployments and commands is required. Expected to work within a team to directly support other engineers by troubleshooting and maintaining servers based on Linux platforms. Must be able to troubleshoot issues related to RAID configurations, network configuration, and OS deployment. This position requires the ability to solve issues independently and work with other administrators to guarantee transfer of knowledge of work through both written and oral communication. BS/BA degree (or equivalent), plus 4 years in related field.

Job Duties

• Responsible for system security, data integrity, and use of resources
• Ensure Linux and ESXi systems are kept up-to-date by installing new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches to meet required security standards and policies
• Independently resolve Linux issues as required to mitigate and minimize outages
• Provide technical guidance for system requirements on procurement requests
• Troubleshooting server and workstation hardware across several manufacturers and platforms (including, but no limited to Cisco, Dell, HP, NetApp)
• Work alongside other Linux and Storage administrators to respond to end-user trouble requests through enterprise ticketing system
• Participation in VMWare administration team
• Perform configuration, optimization and tuning of Linux systems, ESXi systems, and NetApp brand storage devices and software
• Support and troubleshoot virtual hosts within a VMware environment
• Assess current environment and implement automation where possible

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree (or equivalent) in Information Systems
• 4 years of experience in related field
• Diagnostic and troubleshooting ability for Linux server builds specifically CentOS or RHEL
• Experience with Linux servers in virtualized environments
• Experience with Linux scripting languages including bash and python
• Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining services such as Bind, Apache, PostgreSQL, nginx, etc.
• Experience with configuration management tools, such as Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, and Chef
• Familiarity with load balancing concepts, knowledge of A10 or F5 desirable
• Experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMWare, Hyper-V, RDS
• Ability to build and monitor services on production servers
• Knowledge of servers and switches
• Extensive knowledge of multiple network protocols including SSH, FTP, NFS, SFTP, TFTP
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work under tight deadlines
• Ability to understand and carry out instructions provided in various forms (written, oral or diagram)
• Strong communication skills: written, verbal, comprehension
• Experience with storage infrastructure design, storage architecture, administration and optimization (SAN, NAS, Fiber channel, iSCSI, etc.)
• Familiar with TCP/IP, switches, firewalls, routers, and configuration, administration and optimization
• Experience with VMWare vSphere, and ESX virtual computing methods
• Working knowledge of data backup technologies such as Rubrik, systems principles, and safeguard
• Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP
• Motif interface or the System Management Interface Tool (SMIT) for AIX
• TCP/IP, if they plan to use Client/Server functions, TN server or Enterprise Extender
• WebSphere Application Server, if the CS/AIX system includes Remote API Clients that connect to servers using HTTPS
