Ok it's another #MetricMonday coming at you. Today is an "oldie, but goodie" and one that is flexible for your organization’s particular situation. ✅ Days Cash on Hand The purpose of this metric is to show how long you can sustain your current operating expenses if your revenue suddenly stopped and you had to use all of your available cash. I like it because it gives a real timeframe to management and the Board about how long the organization could survive until a rescue plan could be hatched. This is calculated by taking your available cash and dividing it by total annual operating expenses (less non-cash items) / 365 days, which equals your cash flow per day. Many organizations have a target level for this amount 60, 90 or 120 days. You can also take similar type of thinking and apply it to your total unrestricted cash/asset reserves to determine the health and flexibility of your balance sheet. I like to see at least 6-12 months of unrestricted operating reserves. Action items: 🎯 Talk to your Board or leadership about your target Days Cash on Hand. 🎯 Start tracking the amount monthly to see how you're trending. 🎯 Compare the actual to your goal amount. 🎯 Look at it regularly and devise a plan to get there. SIX STEPS TO BUILDING HIGH PERFORMING TEAMS IN MANUFACTURING   Step 4: FOSTER OPEN COMMUNICATION An atmosphere of trust and openness is crucial for a high-performing team.    Frequent, honest dialogue without fear of judgment or repercussions is critical.   𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐠 Create a safe space for team members to share their ideas, thoughts, and concerns regarding their environment, including safety, quality, and efficiency. Encourage the team’s brainstorms. Allow for dissenting opinions.    𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤-𝐢𝐧𝐬 Schedule regular meetings to openly discuss progress, challenges, and feedback. Address issues promptly.    𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 Be honest. Own up to your own mistakes. Openly encourage the right behaviors. Privately correct the wrong ones. Share information and knowledge.   You can develop an environment where the team communicates freely. This openness leads to stronger relationships and better collaboration. Issues are resolved quickly, and ideas flow more freely.
