This past week, several of my favorite things collided—innovation, research, teamwork, and the Olympics 💡📚🤝🏅
I had the privilege of speaking at Asana's Work Innovation Summit in the gorgeous city of Paris 🇫🇷 . At the Summit, we heard from our amazing customers in France—like Accor, NAOS Medical (Bioderma - Institut Esthederm - Etat Pur), and Morning —about how they are innovating work with Asana. I had a fantastic conversation on stage with the brilliant Mark Mortensen. We chatted about the results from our latest research from the Work Innovation Lab—The State of Work Innovation: France.
Mark Mortensen and I share an alma mater in Stanford University Department of Management Science & Engineering and his work has inspired me for years. It was an honor to have him join.
We covered a lot of ground, including:
🇫🇷 The incredible spirit of innovation in France, dating back to 1783 with the flight of the first hot air balloon, and achievements across industries like microbiology and fashion ever since 🔬
🇫🇷 Why French workers dread 83% of their meetings 😩📅—and what to do about it
🇫🇷 The disproportionately high levels of "productivity theater" among executives in France 🎭📈
🇫🇷 The massive innovation opportunities for French executives—especially when it comes to the digital employee experience and AI 💼🚀
At the Summit, attendees also visited our Work Innovation Lab, led by the remarkable Mark Anthony Hoffman and Sally Hamdan ☀️ to experience and visualize how to improve collaboration in 3D, and learn about their Work Innovation Scores.
I'm so grateful for the incredible team behind the event and our Lab research and work in France—Anna James, Mark Anthony Hoffman, Caroline Notter, Corentin Rosado,Cyril Rüegg, Claire Guénand, Cody C., Emily Howard, Karen Faughnan, Margarita Rojas, Jessica Cobarras, Jessica (Liu) Kircher, Matt Maynard, Shannon Sullivan Duffy, Guillaume Turpin, Clara Friggeri, Nicolas Londoño De La Torre, Alexandra Tadeu, Marianne Ridgeway, Camille Chan, Sonja Gusenbauer, Frances Ward, Sue Chen, Nick Levesque, Sonja Gusenbauer, Ally Pang , Ingrid Sorensen, Sanj Bhayro, Emmanuelle Pauliac-Vaujour and many others.
I also soaked up some of the Olympic venues and got goosebumps! It's going to be a special summer. There's a lot that leaders in the workplace can learn from the athletes who will be performing at their peak this summer.
