Congratulations to Dr. Amy Troutt, WESD Director of EdTech and Online Learning, who recently earned the Certified Education Technology Leader® (CET®) designation by passing a rigorous certification exam! The CETL certification, awarded by the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), signifies that Amy has mastered the knowledge and skills needed to bring 21st Century technology to schools and other education organizations. To become certified, the candidate must have demonstrated experience in the education technology field and pass a comprehensive examination based on the 10 skill areas in CoSN’s Framework of Essential Skills of the K-12 CTO. Once the CETL certification is earned, the education technology leader must complete 60 hours of professional development activities every three years to maintain the designation. Way to go, Amy! The #WESDFamily is very proud of you and your incredible achievement!

Today, we are proud to conclude our 2024 Lamp of Learning summer series with a spotlight of Krystin Yee, math teacher at Royal Palm Middle School. The magic in Krystin’s classroom is evident in her content knowledge, innovative strategies, student data analysis, goal setting and relationship building. Krystin makes Algebra proficiency possible as she fosters a love of learning and encourages students to embrace the challenges of mathematics. One of Krystin’s most outstanding accomplishments is her role in achieving the highest growth in diagnostic scores within the district. The foundation of her success is her ability to cultivate strong relationships with her students that are built on trust, mutual respect and genuine care. Outside of the classroom, Krystin also serves on the Leadership Team, sponsors the Garden Club, helps coach track and soccer, and facilities professional development training for her peers. Krystin’s exceptional teaching skills, dedication to student success, extensive involvement in extracurricular activities and unwavering commitment to the school community, prove that she will be a positive influence in the lives of her students and colleagues for years to come. #WESDFamily
