"Aluminized Propellant Surface Imaging" - Caleb Harper, Purdue University, Purdue University College of Engineering. "As an aluminized composite propellant burns, small beads of liquid aluminum agglomerate at the surface of the propellant to form large molten drops. These much larger liquid drops are then carried into the flame to burn. Modifying the composition of the aluminum to form an alloy can alter the size of these droplets and ultimately affect propellant performance.
