In a recent conversation featuring David Ting and Bill Russell from This Week Health the discussion delved into critical issues plaguing various industries, particularly the alarming frequency of behind-the-scenes companies experiencing #databreaches affecting companies daily. They highlighted the expansive reach of current information gathering capabilities, emphasizing its potential as we continue to scale #AI systems capable of processing vast amounts of data. The conversation also raised poignant questions about the readiness of healthcare professionals to operate effectively amidst system breaches, underscoring the importance of robust backup solutions, but most importantly, the preparedness of clinicians processes necessary for hospital systems while they safeguard patient care and ensure #dataintegrity. For a deep dive into these pressing topics, catch the replay to explore how we can better safeguard sensitive information while embracing technological advancements. 🌐💡https://lnkd.in/gBJYbtge. #DataPrivacy #CyberSecurity #HealthcareIT #AI #TechTrends

Helping healthcare to secure ePHI in the information sharing age.
About us
Protecting patient healthcare information is the #1 cybersecurity objective within the $3 trillion U.S. healthcare industry. Healthcare has a multitude of data security software tools and defensive strategies already in place, but they are falling short in fully securing healthcare’s uniquely challenging IT infrastructure. Further, with the advent of the COVID-19 crisis and even more remote care, the patient data “attack surface” has increased exponentially. The need for what we are building has never been greater. Tausight was founded in 2018 by David Ting, the cofounder and former CTO of Imprivata and a former appointee to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Care Industry Cybersecurity Task Force. Tausight is an AI-Powered patient data security startup with a mission of reducing healthcare cyber incidents using a more proactive, risk management philosophy. We deeply understand the complex intricacies of the healthcare infrastructure and have been working very closely with some of the healthcare’s leading CIOs and CISOs to better secure their patient’s protected health information (PHI). Backed by top-tier healthcare technology investors, Polaris Partners and Flare Capital Partners, our team has spent the last two years single-mindedly focused on developing a cutting-edge, multi-patented platform technology that will help secure and de-risk ePHI across a now increasingly decentralized healthcare ecosystem. Tausight is an exciting place to be, at a critical time for healthcare, and the best time to join us is right now.

"You can always rebuild a computer; you can't rebuild your data," said David Ting of Tausight. "You can't pull it back once it's stolen. That's what we need to think about if we're really caring about how we treat our patients." Excellent discussion on what it takes to protect patient data. David Ting shares his thoughts on the aggressive stance the Federal Trade Commission is taking on #healthcaredata not tied to #HIPAA provider data: The Federal Trade Commission is taking notice of all the consumer companies that are dealing with consumer #healthcare #data and not protecting them. This article reinforces the stance the #FederalTradeCommission (FTC) is taking which I think shows incredible concern for the privacy of the healthcare data from consumers. "The Commission is committed to using the full scope of its legal authorities to protect consumers’ privacy. We will vigorously enforce the law if we uncover illegal conduct that exploits Americans’ location, health, or other sensitive data. The FTC’s past enforcement actions provide a roadmap for firms seeking to comply with the law." The fact the FTC has brought hundreds of cases to protect the #privacy of of consumer's #personalinformation should be a reminder to all organizations, provider's included, the responsibility they bear protecting their customers or patients. https://lnkd.in/gB4Mx-bN

"Healthcare has the longest dwell time of any other vertical, which means the attacker often is inside doing reconnaissance" on where the data exist, said David Ting, CTO and Founder of Tausight, during a discussion on ePHI. "We need to be better at tracking that so that we can reduce that surface area." Great discussion, which also featured Larry Ponemon of Ponemon Institute. https://lnkd.in/eMNvvH8q #datasecurity #cybersecurity #protectedhealthinformation #ephi #infosecurity #cybereducation
