Unfortunately, more marketing touches doesn't really result in more sales-readiness, even though that's the MQL model we've used for a long time. In reality, what matters are the associations that your buyer have between you and the problems you solve. The brands that come to mind are the brands who get bought.

Co-Founder, Storybook Marketing | MarTech contributor

It's officially been a year since we launched Storybook Marketing. In that time we've learned a lot in own marketing, which I'd love to talk about. When we first launched, our GTM messaging was entirely centered around being in-house marketing leaders turned agency founders. Graceanne and I were the entire offering at the start, and our in-house leadership experience definitely was what helped us stand out from other solutions. But, as we built Storybook into a full-service agency and less of a consultancy, the offering became bigger than us and the messaged needed to as well. It would have to evolve into who the agency is, and not just who the founders are. Which is what we've been working hard on, especially as our team and client roster grows. So who, then, is Storybook Marketing? We are a full-service demand generation agency, which means we can cover everything from strategy to execution. For some clients, the biggest gap is strategy, but, increasingly we are looked to as a long-term partner in running the program, too. That execution spans ad content and creative development, campaign and channel management, reporting and analysis, and operations support. We're fully agnostic when it comes to channel selection, and we aren't incentivized to drive more more ad spend - our focus is on results. We specialize in managing paid programs involving LinkedIn, Meta, Reddit, and content syndication, email marketing and outbound. There are two things that make us really stand out as an agency partner: 1. We take an orchestrated and integrated approach to demand gen. That means that we build and run programs in a way that is designed to take audiences through a thoughtful journey across channels, which we've found delivers much more impactful results. 2. We bring deep sales and marketing operations experience into every engagement. We've consistently found that even the best run channels are only as good as how they connect and talk to the systems that attribute, score, route, and respond to the leads that are generated. Our ideal clients have a setup that is built on a CRM of Salesforce or HubSpot, and a marketing automation tool - ideally Adobe Marketo, HubSpot, or Pardot, and whatever additional platforms connect to those (e.g. Demandbase, 6sense, Metadata, Chili Piper, etc). Now, that's a pretty comprehensive summary of Storybook Marketing, but it's helped us narrow that down to a real ICP, and it's helping us scale the business. And it's an effort that has taken a year of learning and refinement, including turning away the wrong kinds of clients - which is a terrifying learning curve, let me tell you. But, going into 2024, we've got a very healthy and stable business, and now we're going to use this foundation to scale our marketing even further as we grow the brand, and our business. It really hits different when you see the role of marketing though to revenue. Oh, and if this feels like the agency for you - shoot me a DM ;)
