California's draft 2024-2025 budget proposed significant cuts and funding delays for critical climate programs. To address our funding shortfall and continue to make investments in sustainability and climate resilience, California needs a Climate Bond. Over the weekend, the CA Senate and Assembly released a final proposal for a $10 billion bond. The bond will fund sea level rise adaption, shoreline restoration, statewide wildfire mitigation, drought preparedness, and urban heat reduction, among other important efforts. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gZRtA2Xy The Legislature must adopt this bond by TOMORROW to put it on the November ballot. Please take a few minutes today to call or email your Assemblymember and tell them to support SB 867 – the climate bond! Find your representative: https://lnkd.in/gUyrHb2U

If a magnitude 7.0 earthquake were to hit the Bay Area, thousands of residential units could be lost and 152,000 households could be displaced — a disruption that could deepen the region's housing crisis. SPUR, the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California (SEAONC), and the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute hosted an event for local and state government agencies and nonprofit leaders to learn about the seismic vulnerabilities of the region's #housing stock and discussed the challenges and opportunities in making housing more resilient to #earthquakes. Today, the California Assembly Transportation Committee has the chance to make roads safer for people walking and biking, and to make transit more reliable. If saving thousands of lives every year weren't enough of a reason to #VoteYes on #SB960 (Sen. Scott Wiener), just think of how this bill gets us closer to a future where families can get by with one car instead of two.
