A better version of Reddit or other community platforms can be created with Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI). Access to a community can be permitted only with credentials that can be verified using an SSI solution, such as Privado ID. The week was full of highlights from three recent events in the blockchain and crypto space: the Web3 Leaders Forum in Brussels, the EU Blockchain Manifesto event at EthCC, and a pivotal discussion on the future of Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) in Europe. At the Web3 Leaders Forum organized by #ADAN, we participated in an insightful panel alongside distinguished colleagues, moderated by Inbar Preiss. We explored the global evolution of cryptoasset regulation, emphasizing the EU's need to develop its 'soft power' alongside robust regulations like MiCA. The forum was enriched by exceptional sessions from Peter Kerstens, our Head of Policy Erwin Voloder, MES, our Head of Growth Eugenio Reggianini, and Joachim Schwerin. Erwin's expertise in blockchain policy and Eugenio's insights on digital assets regulation were particularly valuable, providing a comprehensive view of the regulatory landscape. Complementing this, the EU Blockchain Manifesto event at EthCC showcased the industry's commitment to sustainability. Led by Tommaso Astazi, the event presented findings on industry responses to sustainability challenges, including the potential of Demia in preventing greenwashing. A third crucial event focused on the future of SSI in Europe, exploring possibilities beyond EUDIW and eIDAS Trust Framework. The discussion highlighted the potential of non-qualified attestations using zero-knowledge cryptography to balance user privacy with network data protection needs. Privado ID was presented as a concrete market solution for establishing trustworthy on-chain identifiers, relying on trusted off-chain data sources for individuals, organizations, and DAOs in the Web3 context. These events collectively underscore the multifaceted nature of blockchain innovation in Europe. From regulatory discussions led by experts like Erwin and Eugenio to sustainability initiatives and identity solutions, we're witnessing the emergence of a comprehensive Web3 ecosystem. The potential of SSI as a gateway service for wider Web3 experiences is particularly exciting. It could become the 'alpha' use case for the blockchain industry, much like GenAI has been for machine learning.
