Announcing our Keynote Speakers for #LeadershipInstitute this September! 🎤🌈 Raquel Willis is an award-winning activist, journalist, and media strategist dedicated to collective liberation, especially for Black trans folks. She is the author of The Risk It Takes to Bloom: On Life and Liberation, an executive producer with iHeartMedia’s first-ever LGBTQ+ podcast network, Outspoken, and the host of Afterlives, a podcast centering the lives and legacies of trans folks lost too soon to violence. Schuyler Bailar is an educator, advocate, and bestselling author who made history as the first transgender athlete to compete in any sport on an NCAA Division 1 men’s team. His story has appeared everywhere from 60 Minutes to The Washington Post and the Ellen Show. In 2023, Schuyler’s bestseller became the preeminent resource on trans inclusion, He/She/They: How We Talk About Gender and Why It Matters. Our Lady J is an Emmy-nominated writer and producer, best-known for her writing on Pose, Transparent and American Horror Story. Feel free to DM me with any questions. 🌈 Our Mentorship Program pairs LGBTQ+ youth aged 17-24 with tech professionals from Out in Tech’s membership. Each mentee is paired with a mentor to learn a mix of technical and professional skills needed for launching a successful career in tech. Deadline to Apply: August 25, 2024 The Fall 2024 cohort starts in October and runs for 8 consecutive weeks. Mentees will work towards the completion of a project throughout the program. You can apply regardless of what country you are based in. Time Requirements: 3 hours per week with some upfront training and kickoff preparation. Mentorship generally consists of two x 1-hour one-on-one sessions. We strongly encourage women, Black, Latinx, and transgender / non-binary / or gender non-conforming individuals to apply for mentor and mentee roles. Know someone? Pass this on!
