    On or around June 19th, 1865, word of the Emancipation Proclamation finally got around to some of the last enslaved peoples in Galveston, TX, stating that slavery had indeed ended. And so Juneteenth was born – a holiday that has been celebrated in a multitude of ways by a variety of people for over 150 years. But in June 2021, it was officially celebrated as a National Federal Holiday. But with anything “new” comes questions. And as BarkleyOKRP’s ERG, The Hub and Putney would have it, we wanted to alleviate some of the pressure from Black People to teach others about the history. Our response: CHAT Juneteenth – an innovative tool that helps people educate themselves on this piece of American History by simply asking questions about the holiday. So we can get back to doing what we've been doing on Juneteenth for over 150 years. Built on the Putney website, including the efforts from nearly 20 Black American employees from BarkleyOKRP, the chatbot exclusively answers questions about Juneteenth, in its own voice and gives you resources to continue your educational journey.     How do you bring more exceptional, diverse talent Into the industry? Rewrite the path into advertising! For years, the most direct path to a great creative gig in the ad industry has involved costly portfolio schools + secondary degrees that cater to privileged people from specific backgrounds. Not surprisingly, the result has been a lack of diversity in our industry. With this in mind, our award-winning creative leaders, Sam Bonds + Tom Demetriou, imagined an entirely new approach grounded in real-world experience, which led to the launch of BarkleyOKRP’s Creative Accelerator program. This wildly successful program allows aspiring creatives to join the agency, not as interns, but in a salaried year-long training program that provides core craft and strategic skills, mentorship, and support in gaining full-time employment (often with BarkleyOKRP).
