Advancing Economic Equity Together
About us
Founded in 1972, the National Minority Supplier Development Council Inc.® (NMSDC®) is the longest-operating business growth engine for the broadest group of systematically excluded communities of color (Asian-Indian, Asian-Pacific, Black, Hispanic, and Native American), and our impact goes far beyond supply chain. It’s about upward mobility for the emerging majority of Americans, an equal shot at participating in the American experiment of free-market capitalism and entrepreneurship. Our work is about correcting the unequal access to wealth-building opportunities. Our Mission To serve as a growth engine for NMSDC certified minority businesses and enable our members to advance economic equity. We create connections between minority business enterprises (MBEs) and corporations, MBEs and the public sector, and MBEs and other MBEs, to help them benefit from each other, stoking entrepreneurship and growing wealth for these systemically excluded communities. Our Vision To be the leading organization for driving socioeconomic equity and generational wealth in communities of color. We build capacity and capabilities through our programs and other educational offerings that help close that wealth gap, the key to creating a more united and prosperous society for all. Our Network NMSDC is supported by 23 Regional Affiliates nationwide which are the backbone of our gold standard certification program, working in the field locally to ensure our 15,000+ certified MBEs reach their full potential with our 1,500+ corporate members. Our Impact For the last 50 years, NMSDC has been advocating access to the American dream for MBEs. Our success is historic and unmatched: over 15,000 MBEs connected to more than 1,500 corporations, resulting in nearly $400 billion in economic output annually, generating $130 billion in tax revenue, and sustaining 1.75 million jobs. We are the nation’s largest, most impactful, and successful non-profit advocacy organization for MBEs.

Award-Winning National Voice for Women and Minorities in Business - Inspiring international Speaker - Advocate for Women of color - Intentional-Relationship Whisper
📣 📣 📣 For almost 10 years, I have had the honor of curating programming for women of color in business at the Essence Music Festival. It has truly been an honor to be there year after year meeting and working with some of the best in this country! This year was no different. We kicked off the week with our Acres Black Farmer lunch. Amazing work and vision of Brandi W. in executing this amazing event. Next up was the Women of Color Masterclass. It was a joy to curate this event for National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) for the second year in a row. Thank you to our amazing speakers and facilitators Ivy McGregor, Krystal Hardy Allen, and Angela Dingle. Also a huge hug and thanks to Tiffany Carter and Mark Samuel for their partnership and support. Our sponsors this year were Liberty Mutual Insurance and Baxter International Inc. Crystal Jade Santiago & Kera Bussey for continuing to support and championing efforts supporting WMBE!!! And on Saturday I was invited back to the Essence Communications Inc. stage at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center to talk about How to Become a Contract Queen!!! Was blessed to co-lead this presentation with a member of my team Maleeka Catron YOU ROCK!!! Amazing love to Global Black Economic Forum team Alphonso David Aaliyah Haqq and Trudy Bourgeois. You all are moving the needle and I can’t wait to work with you again very soon. Lastly (but certainly not least) our magnificent NMSDC team who played a part in this year’s activations Nicole, Maureen, Maureen Simonette, MPA, Jordan Taylor, and our amazing leader Ying McGuire! National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) reposted this
Earlier today, I was profoundly honored to have opened the 2024 Global Black Economic Forum (GBEF) at the Essence Festival with the visionary GBEF founder Alphonso David, Emma Theofelus, the youngest woman government minister in Africa and Namibia, Oley Dibba-Wadda, Executive Director at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development, the greatest Arian Simone of Fearless Fund. This event was a tapestry of inspiration, woven with the threads of visionaries and trailblazers that uplifted us all. Hearing from and conversing with pillars of the Black business community like Robert F. Smith, Melissa Bradley and Richelieu Dennis, the visionary behind Essence, (or the head intern at Essence:-), was a true honor. Their on stage insights and backstage conversation were profound and motivating. A particularly memorable moment was the meeting with the first Black woman Vice President of Republic of Colombia, Francia Márquez, and her team. Her determination to help underserved businesses thrive in her country through public and corporate contracting, and exporting was inspiring. I am delighted to be invited by her Excellency to their state event later this year to share best practices in supplier diversity with the people of Colombia. Also great occasion to chat with SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION Administrator Guzman, Acting Under Secretary of Minority Business Development Agency - U.S. Department of Commerce, Eric Morrissette, civil rights legend al Sharpton, Damon Todd Hewitt of Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, Derrick Johnson of NAACP, our amazing MBEs like Corey Briscoe of ABCD & Company, and more, added layers of wisdom and perspective. I am immensely proud of the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) team’s work in organizing the Women of Color Masterclass & Brunch at the Essence Festival, in partnership with MBDA and our regional council in New Orleans Southern Region Minority Supplier Development Council. Hats off to Jetheda Hernandez, Maleeka Catron, Maureen Simonette, MPA, Nicole Hambric, CEM,and Brandi W.., and Mark Samuel for the extradinary work. Ivy McGregor of the BeyGOOD Foundation was such an inspiring speaker and an invaluable partner. K. Allen Consulting shared strategic planning principles, and Angela Dingle of Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) provided invaluable support. Black women entrepreneurs only accounting for 13% of all MWBE revenue despite making up 45% of all NMSDC-certified of MWBEs. We need to have united and programatic approach to close the gap. My first experience at GBEF and Essence was made extraordinary by the exceptional work of Alphonso David and his team. Their dedication to economic equity and partnership were the cornerstones of this event's success. Onward! #GBEF #EssenceFestival #Leadership #EconomicEmpowerment #Inspiration #BlackBusinesses #Collaboration
