Last month, Ondrej Hendl and Alida O. earned their Professional Certificates in #Biomanufacturing Science from NC State BTEC❗ To earn this certificate, Ondrej and Alida completed three in-person short courses at BTEC across three content areas: upstream, downstream, and analytical. When asked how they will take what they learned at BTEC and apply this in their career, Ondrej responded, "The insights gained from BTEC courses have been instrumental in my role as a Project Technical Lead. I’ve actively contributed to addressing issues of foreign growth contamination at our #fermentation facility. Subsequently, I took on the responsibility of spearheading a community of practice, aimed at developing and standardizing foreign growth management protocols across our network of fermentation sites. Looking ahead, I aspire to play a pivotal role in the introduction of new #biopharmaceutical products and the integration of biomanufacturing processes within our organization." Ondrej added that he enjoyed the #chromatography and filter integrity testing labs. However, the tank sterilization (tank pressure hold and SIP) lab was especially beneficial for his projects as it provided in-depth knowledge about tank operations relevant to his work. Alida replied, "What I have learned at BTEC will help me a lot in developing my professional career at Sigma, contributing the knowledge I've learned to developing research activities in the field of alternative proteins to achieve the goals and also passing it on to my colleagues. Finally, it has been a great opportunity to obtain this certification and I am grateful for the support of my company and BTEC to achieve it and thus strengthen my work team." Alida enjoyed the transient transfection DOE and bioreactor orientation, rocker bag set-up labs from BTEC's Hands-On cGMP Biomanufacturing of Vectors for #GeneTherapy short course the most. Congrats Alida and Ondrej 🎉! ➡ If you're interested in learning more about this certificate program, you can go to our website at https://lnkd.in/gXQ_X8_d.

NC State University Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center — The life force of tomorrow's industry
About us
NC State BTEC (Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center) is a unique, cross-disciplinary instructional center that provides educational and training opportunities to develop skilled professionals for the biomanufacturing industry and create the best-trained, most industry-focused workforce possible. Founded to help establish, attract and expand biomanufacturing in North Carolina and thus drive innovation and job creation, NC State BTEC operates under the auspices of North Carolina State University's College of Engineering (COE). It operates two facilities on NC State University Centennial Campus: the 82,500-gross-square-foot main building and the 5,000-gross-square-foot BTEC Annex in the Keystone Science Center. The two facilities feature more than $12.5 million of industry-standard equipment and a simulated cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice) pilot plant facility capable of producing biopharmaceutical products using cell growth and expression, recovery, and purification processes using aseptic practices. Undergraduates, graduate students, and working professionals come to NC State BTEC for hands-on learning with the latest biomanufacturing technologies. The organization also performs process development, scale-up, and equipment evaluation studies under a variety of contracts.
