About us

The mission of the National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) is to drive efforts to cure psoriatic disease and improve the lives of those affected. NPF provides people with information and services they need to best manage their disease, while promoting research to find a cure. In addition to being the nonprofit leader in psoriatic disease research, NPF publishes the Journal of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis (https://journals.sagepub.com/home/jps) and provides Continuing Medical Education for health care providers. In early 2016, NPF launched its Patient Navigation Center, the world's first personalized support center for people living with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and their caregivers. The Navigation Center provides free guidance to help you live a healthy life with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Our team of Patient Navigators can help you find specialists, access new medicines and connect you to others in your community who are living with psoriatic disease. We'll work with you one-on-one to ensure that you are receiving the best care, treatment and support needed to manage your disease. Last week's IFPA conference celebrations wouldn't be complete without pausing to honor Kathleen Gallant, National Psoriasis Foundation emeritus Director and IFPA Board Member. Kathleen was the "chief architect" (h/t Josef De Guzman for this title!) behind the World Health Organization Psoriasis Resolution 10 years ago. Her dedication and expertise have been instrumental in navigating the complexities of international health policy, drawing much-needed attention to psoriatic disease. Kathleen spoke about the profound impact of the resolution a decade later at the 7th IFPA Psoriasis & Psoriatic Arthritis Conference in Stockholm. Her unwavering commitment continues to inspire the international psoriatic disease community to boldly move our agenda forward. We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Kathleen and were privileged to celebrate this milestone with her and the psoriasis community. Thank you, Kathleen, for your relentless advocacy and for making a lasting difference in the lives of those affected by psoriatic disease. 🌍❤️ #PsoriasisAwareness #Advocacy #ThankYouKathleen #IFPAConference #NPF (A few photos of more than a decade of advocacy with Kathleen on this resolution and celebrating the 10 year milestone last week!)

What an engaging three days in Stockholm at the 7th World Psoriasis & Psoriatic Conference hosted by IFPA chaired by Dr. April Armstrong, MD MPH! It was fascinating to listen to experts unpack topics from #treatment advances to unmet needs to the #prevention of psoriatic arthritis from a global vantage point. I had the honor of highlighting the work of the National Psoriasis Foundation and the complexities of accessing care in the U.S. through two panels: "From diagnosis to treatment: Rethinking care to better meet patient needs" (presented by Bristol Myers Squibb) and "Beyond the surface: a deep dive into the psoriatic disease spectrum." These sessions included a look at data from NPF’s Health Indicator Report - recently released as part of our work under the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Chronic Disease Education & Awareness Grant - and impactful research funded by the NPF including the CP3 grant with the potential to change and extend lives! Today, the focus shifts to the IFPA patient organization member meeting. Excited to continue learning, sharing, and collaborating in this dynamic environment. #Psoriasis #IFPA #PatientCare #MedicalConference

  • We spent the weekend in the windy city at our Collaborative Care in Psoriatic Disease. This dynamic panel of clinicians underscored the essential role of interdisciplinary collaboration in managing psoriatic disease. A sincere thank you to our co chairs, Dr. Jennifer Soung and Dr. G. Michael Lewitt for their outstanding leadership in organizing such a transformative event, and to all those who brought their invaluable expertise to this event. Our psoriasis patients have so many questions beyond skin so that’s why we and the National Psoriasis Foundation brought together a multidisciplinary team from rheumatology, gastroenterology, diet/nutrition, and weight management experts to learn from each other and invited the entire medical community of Chicago! Here are some key hilights at our symposium today: Dr. Sushila Dilal (GI) gave us an overview of the latest treatment approach to inflammatory bowel disease and now I have a better understanding of how to partner when my psoriasis patients also have IBD. Rheumatologist Dr. Manish Jain reminded us to ask about back pain and showed us how rheumatologists measure minimal disease activity for psoriatic arthritis. My BFF Wayne Ho, MD updated us on the rapidly evolving field of weight management in GLP agonistS and how they can help our overweight psoriasis patients.

  • Join us in honoring the legacy of IFPA president, Dr. Hoseah Waweru, whose unwavering dedication and compassion deeply impacted the global psoriatic disease community. His leadership, kindness, and wisdom will be greatly missed, but his spirit will continue to guide us in our fight for a world free of psoriatic disease. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends during this difficult time. As a community, we echo the sentiments of our board member Kathleen Gallant (pictured below) : 'Hoseah was gentle, kind and at the same time a pillar of granite of the global psoriatic disease community. He was much loved and respected.' IFPA's full statement: https://lnkd.in/gqe9vmN9
