We have helped many aspiring consultants secure their consulting offers, and one common concern is how to create a compelling cover letter. Many people think that recruiters no longer read cover letters, but based on my team’s experience, this is not true! There are three occasions where it is crucial to include one: 1. Explaining office preferences: Office recruiters will review your cover letter to ensure you have a valid reason or connection to the office you’ve selected. 2. Reapplying: If you’ve applied before, recruiters will typically look at your cover letter to see what has changed since your last application. 3. Addressing potential concerns: If there’s something in your background you’re worried about (e.g., GPA, test scores, non-relevant work experience), the cover letter allows you to demonstrate how you have the skills to overcome these barriers.
