A couple of years ago I was running a live stream at a conference, and overnight someone ripped all the VODs from our Twitch stream, and uploaded the unedited sessions to YouTube. I ended up spending half of the next day sending DMCA notices to YouTube. "Gosh", I thought to myself "I kinda wish we had DRM on those videos now". I hear similar stories from our customers all too frequently - they're spending their time and energy worrying about chasing down pirates, and sending takedown notices instead of focusing on creating great content for their platforms. Well this time round I don't have to worry, because I can just… "Mux it!"… That's right: Mux Video now supports Digital Rights Management (DRM). Mux Video's new DRM feature provides an extra layer of security that blocks or limits the impact of screen recording, screen sharing, and downloading tools. Huge shout out to the incredible engineering team at Mux for putting together another great feature, especially Walker Griggs and Michael Smith from our Video engineering team, Christian, AJ, and Emily Dixon from our SDKs team, and of course, no new Mux feature would be complete without some amazing videos from Staci DeGagne! Video for e-commerce (or, aptly named, shoppable video) is more than just a clickable video ad on Instagram or TikTok. It's an ever-growing medium that spans from product videos to influencer-led campaigns. If brands can utilize it effectively, it's one of the best ways to get visitors to stay on your site longer, learn more about your products, and increase add-to-cart rates. It was so wonderful to get to sit down with Bertold Harmath 🌊 LIVEBUY's co-founder, CCO, and honorary Chief Demo Officer to chat about the trends he's seeing with shoppable video, how to build effective experiences, and see how they're using Mux to build phenomenal experience for some of Europe's largest brands. Some of you know me from back in my a cappella days. I haven't sang like that "For The Longest Time", but I shared some of the greatest hits (and greatest whiffs) in my latest blog post on Mux! Error categorization - our Data product's latest feature - gives you more info, power, and control over error reporting in your QoE metrics. Read about it and change your tune on what failure means to you! https://lnkd.in/dzuhGh9V

As creator economy platforms like Substack resegment the world of media, it’s no surprise that they turn more and more to video. The same thing happened to text-based media and journalism in the last century—as TV proliferated, media went from being mostly text-based to mostly video-based over time. Substack is interesting for so many reasons: - Empowering creators vs. centralized control. - More aligned incentives between platform and creator. - Giving writers and journalists stability in a time of industry upheaval. - Long-form, thoughtful content vs. dopamine addiction. Excited to be working with Chris Best, Hamish McKenzie, Jairaj Sethi on this.
Today we’re bringing video to Substack Chat. Record a video on your phone and send it directly to your subscribers. Video in Chat is a way Substack creators can be candid with their community, in a private space they own and control. Read more: https://lnkd.in/ebAhJHp3
