ICYMI: Briolf USA LLC, the subsidiary of Briolf Group headquartered in Spain, has announced it is planning its first U.S. manufacturing campus in Union County, North Carolina. Piedmont High School Seniors Makenna Tyson and Elana Lankford are the 2024 New Century Scholarship recipients. JobReady Partnership Chair, Ron Mahle and Vice Chair, Brenda Robbins had the pleasure of presenting the $5,000 awards to Makenna and Elana at Piedmont High School on May 16th. New Century Scholarships are funded by the generous support of Union County manufacturers and are awarded to deserving graduating UCPS seniors pursuing an associate degree at South Piedmont Community College. After SPCC, both Makenna and Elana plan to attend Wingate University.

Ron Mahle presents an annual Economic Development incentive check to Scott Morrris, President, American Wick Drain Corporation (AWD). The incentive helped American Wick Drain offset costs related to recent capital investments in new manufacturing equipment and building expansions. The company located in the Monroe Corporate Center has expanded three times over the past several years. These expansions are a testament to their confidence in Union County as a location which enables American Wick Drain and its employees to thrive. American Wick Drain produces engineered drainage collection solutions used in commercial construction and large-scale roadway infrastructure.

Monroe Mayor Robert Burns presents Nathan Hamilton of Hamilton Drywall Products an award check from the North Carolina Rural Center. Monroe-Union County Economic Development worked closely with Hamilton Drywall Products in competing for the grant from NC Rural Center. The $169,000 grant will help offset the company’s $13 Million renovation of its 98,000 SF manufacturing facility located in Monroe’s historic Sutton Park industrial neighborhood. Hamilton Drywall Products, headquartered in California, chose Monroe as its east coast manufacturing hub of its proprietary drywall finishing compounds due to its strategic location and available quality workforce.

Ron Mahle presents an annual economic development incentive payment to Mr. Tadashi Takagi, Executive Vice President, Goulston. The annual payment is related to the incentive package awarded to Goulston in order to assist with their recent $40 Million expansion in Monroe. Goulston is a world leader in the production of surface modification technologies that serve the fiber, personal care, antimicrobial, and other specialty sectors.

Ron Mahle had the pleasure of presenting this year’s Economic Development Incentive Grant check to Justin Taylor, President of Pure Power Contractors Pure Power Contractors chose Union County as the location for their full-service photovoltaic Design and Construction Company. The company employs 100 people at their Indian Trail facility. The firm is one of the largest and most active developers of solar farms in the nation.
