This #WorldMalariaDay, we echo the World Health Organization's call to shed light on why we need to continue with the fight to end malaria in Africa. ❻⓿❽ - Thousands of malaria deaths in 2022 ❷❹❾ - Millions of new malaria cases in 2022 As we honor the heroes in this battle, Akros, a dedicated member of the Million Lives Collective, persists in its commitment by leveraging the Reveal platform to utilize geospatial data for delivering health services to the most remote areas. With more than 3 million lives impacted, they continue to support governments across the continent to achieve targeted indoor residual spray (IRS), mass drug administration (MDA), and larval source management. Most recently, their mapping of antimalarial resistance markers in #Ghana with the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria, and the West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP) - University of Ghana marks a new innovation linking genomics with the power of spatial data. The use of spatial intelligence means bringing data science to the ground through Reveal! We are very proud to have Akros in the collective, and excited about all the possibilities that await them! And so continues the journey of 100+ claps... 👏https://lnkd.in/dDbDVxVG Villgro Africa E&K Consulting Firm Insight Health Advisors Results for Development #meetthecollective

Healthy Entrepreneurs and RestoringVision have partnered under the Bayer Foundation MLC Collaboration Grant to implement a transformative initiative which integrates eye screening services and affordable eyeglasses into the baskets of Community Health Entrepreneurs in Uganda. This intiative uses lean & agile approaches to carry out Sprints to test the solution in real time. It’s all about responding to change and making smart decisions, over sticking to a fixed plan. Watch the video below to learn more about this transformative initiative! ⚡️👓
CHE-SEE Campaign under the Million Lives Collective Initiative Healthy Entrepreneurs is proud to partner with RestoringVision on the CHE-SEE campaign, a collaborative project within the Million Lives Collective and the Bayer Foundation. This initiative helps the many people who live undiagnosed and underserved with Presbyopia. A condition which severely affects day-to-day life. Free eye screening and making near vision glasses accessible to everyone, even in the most remote areas, has a huge positive impact. In this partnership, we have added Restoring Vision glasses to our product assortment for a selected number of trained Healthy Entrepreneurs in Uganda as a pilot program. These CHEs are from districts such as Hoima, Kyankwanzi, Lira, Katakwi, Iganga, Mpigi, Kalungu, Luwero, and Ntungamo. We trained them on how to screen their patients, provide affordable glasses ($2), and supplied them with promotional materials for their businesses. With this support, our CHEs are well equipped to offer corrective glasses to people suffering from vision impairment due to presbyopia, in their communities. Healthy Entrepreneurs aims to provide affordable healthcare to all and transform lives in the process. Two weeks ago we had the pleasure of hosting 9 MLC members at the International Development Innovation Alliance (IDIA) bi-annual meeting in Oxford, UK. During this meeting, MLC members had the opportunity to share their experiences scaling their innovation and the challenges in accessing funding at various stages. Later, MLC and IDIA members participated in round table discussions with government officials, discussing challenges in garnering support for innovation in-country and scaling through the public sector. Following the IDIA meeting, MLC members & partners in our network met up at a local pub for an evening of networking! It was a great day and we are looking forward to more events like this in the future! Attendees: Max Krafft, Abraham Zerihun Megentta, Diana Nambatya Nsubuga, Ph.D., Jonathan Lehe, Felix Brooks-church, Katungi Muhwezi Ambrose, Karen Hampson, Enla Fees, Siddhartha Goyal, Wendy Leonard, MD

On this year's #WorldHealthDay, we followed in the footsteps of the World Health Organization to draw your attention to some disheartening statistics.☹ ❺ - The interval (in seconds) within which a life is lost due to climate-induced health conditions ❶❹⓿ - The number of countries that recognize health as a human right in their constitution, with most of them not passing/practising the laws ❹½ - The world population (in billions) that was not fully covered by essential health services in 2021 The list goes on and on. Fortunately, someone somewhere is doing something, and we are so glad to be part of this story.🌟 Today, we will begin the journey of 100+ claps by highlighting a few of the members of our collective who are striving to champion everyone's access to quality healthcare services everywhere. 👏https://lnkd.in/dj8vXT5y Villgro Africa E&K Consulting Firm Insight Health Advisors Results for Development #meetthecollective

#SankalpAfrica2024 kicked off today and the engagement at our MLC booth was nothing short of amazing.💫 The interactions we had are a great way to close this month as we strategize further on our role in solving for Africa's biggest challenges. One of our MLC members, Nivi, Inc., visited our booth today for a brief chat about the potential collaborations we can explore to support the scaling of their offerings in the public sector. Tune in for more of these #publicsectorscaling conversations as the year progresses. Hoping to meet more of you all tomorrow as we wrap up our time at the summit!🥳
