"My project was not just an initiative; it was the embodiment of a dream. A dream where African youths were armed with knowledge, innovation, and the tools to create change." Audry Chivanga is a Class of 2023 Millennium Fellow studying at the African Leadership University. She grew up in Harare, Zimbabwe, where she witnessed multiple social problems, from an incredibly poor healthcare system to widespread poverty. Living through these issues ignited something in her, sparking her passion for creating local solutions. As a Mastercard Scholar and now a Millennium Fellow, Audry founded the African Innovative Community, a platform connecting young talents across Africa to collaboratively tackle local problems. With a network of 200-250 young innovators, they address issues such as long queues in African hospitals, fostering collaboration and innovation. Audry's leadership and dedication to social impact exemplify the power of youth-driven initiatives in addressing critical issues. The 10th #MillenniumOceansPrize applications close today. University students worldwide still have time to submit. The Oceans Prize gives a $5,000 grant to students leading a campaign advancing SDG 14: Life Below Water, and promises to conserve global or local water sources.
