We're honored to have collaborated with Literary Cleveland and RA Washington on 'These Words Are Not My Home'. This project empowers and uplifts the stories and experiences of individuals who are unhoused by offering them a creative outlet to tell their own stories. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4cJTo1z
Strategic communicator, collaborative gut-checker and effective messaging manager. Telling good stories for good.
The community of writers & word-lovers Literary Cleveland has grown and nurtured are representative of every corner of greater Cleveland. This community includes nationally known authors, career poets, AND those individuals whose needs are often unheard and unaccounted for. Lit CLE knows how to guide storytellers in creating powerful narratives. "These Words Are Not My Home: Writing from the Unhoused," an anthology of writing by Clevelanders experiencing homelessness, captures that power in every page. The anthology debuted yesterday with a reading at 2100 Lakeside -- just before staff came back to the office for our board meeting, where we had the opportunity to read the works together. Thanks to partners at Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry for their support and collaboration and to Outlandish Press for getting the words into print. Here's one of my favorites, by Nate Hearn: How can you dare say what I said with acceptance when you didn't hear what I said. You dare to turn the light on my words or give sight to them when you don't understand what was said. How dare you try to turn the light to show other, when you are blind to the facts and without eyes to see I seeing only with your eyes does not give you the understanding of the facts and truth Open your heart that you may truly see.
