The Lincoln Road team recently attended TWIN Proximity: AI, Digital, and the Future of Everything (May 29-30), hosted by TWIN Global, where chair and cofounder Robert C. Wolcott guided participants on an existential journey through the intersections of AI, digital technology, and the arts. The event coincided with the release of Wolcott’s new book, Proximity, co-authored by Kaihan Krippendorff.
The agenda was filled with thought-provoking delights and surprises. The conference insightfully demonstrated how “Proximity Rising” is dramatically transforming the ways we work, eat, prevent and cure diseases, create and produce, generate power, and defend ourselves, both now and in the future. We were treated to astonishing demonstrations of advanced technologies, showcasing revolutionary AI-enabled approaches to software development, biofarming, and medical training. The talented pianist William Goldstein transported us with his “instant composition” inspired by works of art.
MarySue Barrett, an expert in public policy and sustainability and a senior strategy advisor for the Women’s Leadership Center at Williams Bay, participated in the closing panel. She underscored the importance of convening multidisciplinary talents to innovate and drive urgent changes. She highlighted the Women’s Leadership Center’s aspiration to tackle “Big Ideas” through “extraordinary mash-ups,” leveraging the talents of women leaders across multiple disciplines to advance innovations that benefit all.
The thought-provoking discussions left us contemplating the limitless potential of consciousness, reality, and imagination. We walked away understanding that AI, while long existent, is “not just one thing.” It represents a body of potential that demands our engagement and awareness to ensure ethical and purposeful application. As Wolcott and TWINians often say, “Never leave serendipity to chance.”
