Welcome to Isaac School District No. 5! Isaac School District has been serving the educational needs of students since 1878 as Arizona's 5th oldest school district. Today, Isaac serves approximately 6,500 students in grades K-8 and is located minutes from Downtown Phoenix. We recently celebrated the introduction of six new electric school buses to our district. These environmentally friendly vehicles promote a cleaner atmosphere and offer our students healthier air quality during their rides. Today's event showcased the commitment of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the City of Phoenix, the Clean School Bus selectees, and the Isaac School District to enhance environmental and climate sustainability. We are proud of our ISD scholars for their achievements, not only in the classroom but also within the community. This morning, one of our Middle School Sustainability Officers, Aislynn L. from Morris K. Udall Middle School led the Pledge of Allegiance at Mayor Kate Gallego's State of The City Address. We look forward to showcasing the incredible successes our ISD scholars continue to accomplish.
Today, we're making history with the City of Phoenix and our incredible partners, the Arizona Sustainability Alliance and V+P Nurseries, as we plant 80 trees at Morris K. Udall Middle School and Alta E. Butler Elementary School. This landmark event marks the first school tree planting funded by the American Rescue Plan Act through the Canopy for Kids Program in Arizona. A huge thank you to our volunteers and community for helping us turn this dream into reality. We are grateful for community partners FedEx and nonprofit Operation Warm for providing new shoes, socks, and extra goodies to our Joseph Zito K-3 students. Students were also thrilled and excited to experience a FedEx truck and van tour. We appreciate all those involved in coordinating this successful event and a big thank you to staff and volunteers for their time with our Isaac Scholars.
