The #1 site for HBCU Students and Graduates to connect to each other and great opportunities!
About us
HBCU CONNECT was founded in 1999 by Hampton University graduate William Roger Moss III, who connected with fellow HBCU grad and entrepreneur E. Shawn Starks to create the first African American targeted social network launched as "hbcu-central.com". We simply thought it would be a great idea to provide a useful social network for HBCU graduates with the capability to upload photos! Back then there were no social networks around with member profiles for college students or graduates so we set out on our mission to serve this audience! Since 1999, we've focused on serving the needs of our audience by providing a platform for networking, professional opportunities, educational opportunities and facilitating connections between our audience and the savvy organizations looking to hire from, or brand themselves with this tight-knit HBCU community. We are the best at what we do for several reasons, but especially because we genuinely CARE about those we serve and the future of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Reflecting on the phenomenal 25th Anniversary & Job Fair by HBCU CONNECT last weekend fills me with immense pride for my exceptional husband Doug Menifee who played a pivotal role in orchestrating this memorable event. His hard work, dedication, and visionary leadership shone through every aspect of the occasion. From enlightening panels offering career advancement strategies to discussions on personal growth, each moment underscored his passion for fostering opportunities for empowerment. And yes, he managed to sneak in a fun skincare segment where I happily shared some of my beauty secrets! 😂 Amidst the enriching sessions, we also found time for enjoyment. HBCU Connect infused excitement with a lively rooftop party, a spirited 5K run, and an unforgettable white party that we attended in style, surrounded by both old and new friends. The seamless execution of the event was made possible by an amazing crew of professionals, adding to the overall success of the experience. Here's to the future filled with more adventures, triumphs, and cherished memories. I am grateful to stand by your side, supporting you every step of the way. Excited for the incredible journey ahead! #Proudwife #HBCUConnect #TeamworkMakesTheDreamWork

From Building Partnerships to Building Pipelines…a great day is an understatement at the HBCU CONNECT Conference and Career Fair during their 25th Anniversary! It was their first conference of that magnitude and AbbVie was present and met so many eager early career and experienced potential candidates. We were busy before the doors officially opened! A special thank you to Angie Snow Madison and Katrina Pope, EMPA for their assistance as we were nonstop at our booth! We were a great team! A huge thank you to Will Moss, the CEO of HBCU Connect and Doug Menifee, Senior VP for the invitation and most importantly, their hospitality. They took great care of us! I was also selected as a workshop presenter on a topic near and dear to me, Breaking the Glass Celing with your HBCU Degree! So many came right after the workshop to share how they appreciated the points and could relate! What a way to celebrate 25 years! #abbvielife #belongatabbvie #pipelinepartnerships
