Did you know that Westchester County local police departments have direct access to Mobile Crisis Response Teams (MCRT) to respond immediately to community members experiencing a behavioral health crisis? Available exclusively through 911 dispatch or local police departments in the catchment areas and composed of mental health professionals from agencies across Westchester County, MCRT helps to engage individuals, address their needs, and connect them to appropriate services and supports. • June is Men’s Mental Health Month. For too long, societal norms have deterred men from speaking out about their struggles. But it’s time to change that narrative - and bust common myths about men’s mental health that contribute to it. Today, we’re sharing some important reminders to support and encourage men in their mental health journeys. Yesterday, Greater Mental Health of New York commemorated Juneteenth with a vibrant celebration at our Valley Cottage location. The event featured southern cuisine from Brother’s Barbecue and an outdoor gathering, where we were honored to welcome speakers and Rockland County natives: - Annquette Mackey, Program Manager for Transitional Services at The Center for Safety and Change - Quantah Moor (born Tammy Eleazer), a spoken word artist - Dr. Weldon McWilliams IV, Professor of Black Studies at SUNY New Paltz We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our speakers, staff, and program participants for making this event memorable. Special appreciation goes to our Rockland-based Diversity, Inclusion, Awareness, and Learning for Ongoing Unity and Equity (DIALOGUE) committee for organizing this exceptional celebration, whose efforts help to create a more inclusive environment that positively impacts our agency and the communities we serve.

  • Greater Mental Health of New York is proud celebrate #Juneteenth! Juneteenth (June 19th) recognizes the end of slavery and specifically commemorates the events of June 19, 1865, on which the news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached Texas and freed approximately 250,000 individuals who remained enslaved there. Our agency is closed today in honor of Juneteenth. We are excited to commemorate this critical turning point in American history tomorrow at our annual Juneteenth celebration with staff and individuals engaged in our services. For information and guides to cultural education events around the region, see https://lnkd.in/emuvsXdX .
