✨️🎉💕We celebrated the power of play with Mattel, Inc. during their annual Play It Forward event last week! 🏈⚽️🎨 Our girls got to meet former-Arizona Cardinals coach Dr. Jen Welter and ran some football drills to get warmed up for the day. We created artwork with El Segundo Museum of Art, connected with the El Segundo Fire Department, and practiced their kicks with Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC). Girls Inc Los Angeles is an incredible organization that empowers the girls of Los Angeles to tap into their strengths and amplify their talents to become leaders of today and tomorrow. Through supportive mentorship, targeted advocacy and education, and evidence-based programming, the organization helps girls create true positive change both in their own lives and in their wider communities. Inspiring women to live more fulfilling lives has always been a central pillar of goop’s work, so we were thrilled to host a luncheon at our office to support the Girls Inc. mission, including an enlightening talk from CEO Erin Ross and board member Nyakio Grieco. 👩🎨🎨ART + CULTURE WORKSHOP SERIES 🎉 In Partnership with Marvin Elkin, Girls Inc. LA hosted its first-ever Art + Culture Workshop Series in honor of Simona B. Elkin featuring Lily Martinez. ✨️ Lily Martinez, who became the first Latina Creative Director at Barbie during her time at Mattel, shared her incredible journey as a Latina designer and illustrator. Each girl was provided with a Catrina mask to decorate and remember and celebrate loved ones who have passed. Through this workshop, girls were able to learn and connect with a part of the Latino culture learning about Day of the Dead. 💕 We are grateful to Marv Elkin and Roy Cosme and everyone who donated in honor of Simona B. 🌞 We kicked off the first day of summer with a super rad field trip to Citizens of Humanity Group! ✨️ Girls Inc. of Los Angeles was invited to an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the Citizens of Humanity Group laundry facility and headquarters. They learned about the jean creation process and explored the different company departments. 💚 We learned how they are practicing environmentally conscious production. A highlight was being able to tie-dye their own shirts. 🚍 As part of our Summer Field Trips, girls will go on various field trips focused on career exploration. 🤗We had our Annual Staff Retreat today at Chief! ✨️It was an opportunity to reflect on our accomplishments and challenges, individually and as a team. We revisited our strategic plan discussing our goals and how we are all contributors in our own way. ✨️Deloitte Impact Day with Girls Inc. LA was a success!  🫶 Thank you for celebrating #ImpactDay with us for the third year in a row! They generously donated all the materials and supplies- they even brought delicious snacks for us! They spent their Friday putting together program starter kits, prize bags and prize boxes for our girls and staff for the upcoming school year. 🖌🎨 The starter kits were composed of classroom essentials such as tempera paint, brushes, markers, disinfecting wipes and a foldable wagon! Prize bags were decorated by hand and included uplifting messages and fun items such as a notebook, pen, stickers and mini plush animals. Mattel, Inc. gave us everything we needed to have the ultimate Barbie party!
