About us

This page is dedicated to highlighting the incredible work and accomplishments of the GIFFORDS team. We’re on a mission to save lives from gun violence. Led by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, GIFFORDS has the strength and courage it will take to bring Americans together to find unity and challenge the forces that threaten our safety. At GIFFORDS, we shift culture, change policy, and challenge injustice by fighting for the gun safety laws and programs proven to save lives. GIFFORDS mobilizes lawmakers and the constituents they represent in support of lifesaving gun laws. We work to foster a culture where Americans are informed about what makes them safer and inspired to fight for a safer future. GIFFORDS Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence researches, writes, enacts, and defends the laws, policies, and programs proven to reduce gun violence and save lives for nearly 25 years. Founded in the wake of the mass shooting at 101 California Street in San Francisco, our experts advocate for the policies that will keep our communities safe. GIFFORDS PAC is a political action committee working to support elected officials who step up to fight the gun violence epidemic. We advocate for policies on Capitol Hill and in state legislatures that will safeguard our nation.

Not enough words to express the gratitude I feel for all those who joined us at the 2024 Community Violence Intervention Conference. Over 900 attendees committed to forging connections and discussing strategies to promote peace and save lives. This space would be nothing without the energy and wisdom shared by each attendee, and we don’t take it for granted. An extra special shoutout to my fellow panelists Paris Davis, MPA,CNP Armando Torreblanca LaQuay Boone, MSW, LSW for the amazing conversation on the future of our work, Aim4Peace "The Movement to Stop the Shooting" for deservingly receiving the Lifesaving Service Award, and all those who had speaking roles and participated in organizing such a massive event. Wishing you all safe travels home, lots of rest, and looking forward to seeing the ideas you bring forth next year!

We're proud to be active members of GIFFORDS' Impact Network, a group of business leaders invested in bringing about real change to save lives from gun violence. Last week, it was an honor to join Gabby Giffords and her team and Chip Wade from Union Square Hospitality for a lively discussion and lunch to collaborate on ideas and solutions. We look forward to continuing our partnership and finding new ways to improve outcomes in local communities and make a national impact on this critical issue.

Reflecting on an inspiring luncheon hosted by GIFFORDS and inKind at Paraíso in Washington, DC! I was honored to sit on a panel with Johann Moonesinghe of InKind, Former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, and GIFFORDS Executive Director Emma Brown. During our discussion, we delved into the pivotal role that the business community plays in driving policy change around common-sense gun reform. I’m proud to reaffirm USHG’s commitment to this important cause. The event was a testament to the power of conversation and action. To learn more, connect with GIFFORDS and become advocates for change in your communities and companies. Together, we can make a difference.
