While exclusive gym Third Space might be best known for its celebrity clients, including David Beckham and Prince Harry, executives aren’t just targeting the ultra-wealthy and celebrities. Instead, they’re focussing on millennials willing to pay a premium for some luxury peace and quiet away from their hectic lives. Despite the London-based gym group’s hefty $ 280-to-$318-a-month price tag, millennials—the generation that says they can’t save enough money to get on the property ladder—make up most of Third Space’s 35,000 plus members. “The demographic is primarily young working professionals, living their best life, wanting to complement their hard-working life with being healthy … and managing their stress levels,” Colin Waggett, Third Space’s CEO tells Fortune. “We’re not talking about people earning £400,000 ($512,000), it’s people in the £120,000 to £130,000 ($154,000-$166,000) bracket—they might be spending 10% of their disposable income with us.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/ev4tVCRj

A windfall is on the cards for young people courtesy of a massive wealth transfer that will take place over the next two decades—but not before one specific demographic inherits its share. According to UBS’s Global Wealth Report 2024, $83.5 trillion of wealth will be transferred to younger people within the next 20 to 25 years. However, a significant chunk of this sum currently held by the boomer generation will be passed on within the next decade. That is because people over age 75 (boomers and the Silent Generation) currently hold around a fifth of the world’s overall wealth. However, given that life expectancy tends to fall between ages 82 and 86, UBS wrote that this shift may occur sooner rather than later. Read more: https://lnkd.in/ejd-mZJy

There’s finally data to back up what most people suspected was true about remote work: It’s here to stay. An annual survey from the Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics released in June found that 35% of workers did some or all of their work at home in 2023, up from 34% in 2022. The data comes from a detailed study called the Annual Time Use Survey, which measures exactly how Americans spend their time. The survey includes leisure activities, household chores, and work lives—including where exactly they unfold. Read more: https://lnkd.in/evEqGkMn
