It's Plastic-Free July! Did you know that - 8 billion tons of legacy plastic currently pollute the Earth - 91% of plastic is not recycled but heads to landfills and, eventually oceans - 9-14 million tons of plastic waste enter the oceans every year + 800 wildlife species are negatively impacted by this waste We’re doing our part. Fair Harbor has repurposed more than 35 million plastic bottles to make our apparel, and that’s just the beginning. We’re always working on new ways to use earth-friendly fabrics and responsible production practices. In honor of Plastic Free July, we challenge you to reduce your plastic use so that we’ll run out of fabric one day. If you want to find out how to use less plastic this month and going forward, join the global movement to find a solution. https://lnkd.in/e_aMwKcu

Fair Harbor is celebrating 10 years of good times and great vibes! And what a wild ride it's been for our founders Jake Danehy and Caroline Danehy as they've built a sustainable family brand. They're grateful to mark a decade of protecting the places we all love -- and for having an incredible time doing it. A little history: Fair Harbor was inspired by Jake and Caroline's childhood summers spent on Fire Island with their family. This video captures recent adventures from a weekend when they returned to the island to kick back and celebrate. Here's to another ten years! https://lnkd.in/dNMjGsYF

What we surround ourselves with can be revealing — from books to food to clothing— because they offer insights into our lifestyle and mindset. That's why we're grateful to Paolo Sandoval at InsideHook for asking our Fair Harbor CEO and co-founder Jake Danehy about what he can't live without, including some of his favorite Fair Harbor products. What we learned: Jake loves meditation, listening to vintage vinyl, and cooking good food at home with his fiancé. Here's what else keeps him going. https://lnkd.in/ePwWmWVw

Some of the greatest lessons are handed down from the generation before us. In this piece featured in Bizwomen, our co-founder Caroline Danehy looks back at her dad Kevin Danehy's sacrifices and what he taught her about pursuing a passion. "I am proud of our accomplishments but remain humbled by and grateful for the lessons I’ve learned on this journey. My dad’s guidance allowed me to build a mission-driven brand fueled by my own interests,” she says. Read the rest of her inspiring story here. https://lnkd.in/eQd-MF72

As we gear up to celebrate our 10th anniversary next month, we are incredibly excited to share our favorite moments from this milestone and discuss what's ahead for the brand. Thanks to Andre Claudio at Sourcing Journal for his recent interview with Fair Harbor co-founder Jake Danehy. In it, Jake discusses how he and Caroline Danehy have stayed true to the mission of positively impacting the environment and their ongoing goal to make sustainability a seamless part of everyday life. Ten years, 60,000 five-star reviews, over a million shorts sold, and 35,000,000 plastic bottles repurposed -- and it's just the beginning! 🎉
Fair Harbor, a coastal lifestyle brand, has made sustainability and transparency part of its ethos since its inception in 2014. To find out more about its sustainability journey and initiatives, Sourcing Journal caught up with Fair Harbor’s CEO and co-founder Jake Danehy. In this Q&A, Danehy discusses where he hopes to see Fair Harbor 10 years from now and how the New York City-based apparel brand designs sustainably—from making its recycled polyester fabric from plastic bottles to maintaining responsible factory partners.
